Inspired by Mary Gabriel’s “Ninth Street Women,” artist Laura Shabott explores the lives and legacies of five trailblazing women who shaped Abstract Expressionism

Back by popular demand, Shabott revisits the art, lives, and lasting impact of these remarkable women—visionaries who forged their own creative paths despite being overshadowed by their male contemporaries. The program also highlights Helen Frankenthaler’s deep ties to Cape Cod, offering a regional perspective on her groundbreaking work.

The book Ninth Street Women is available for purchase in the Museum Shop. Ticket price includes Museum admission, and attendees are invited to view Laura Shabott’s exhibition currently on view
