Book Talk with Christopher Mirabile: Author of “The Holdfast” & “The Washashore”
Join us for Coffee @ the Kennedy Museum as we welcome back Cape author Christopher Mirabile for a discussion of the latest installment in his Silas Lopez mystery series. Set once again against the distinctive backdrop of Provincetown, the novel follows newly appointed Police Chief Silas Lopez as the seemingly natural death of an elderly homeowner leads him into a troubling web of suspicious property deals, missing records, shell corporations, and intimidation.

The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is thrilled to host renowned photographer Mark Chester at this Coffee @ The Kennedy Museum event, where he discusses his latest book and photography project “The Bay State: A Multicultural Landscape”
Set in the Museum’s gallery where Chester’s photographs are currently on exhibit, he will be in conversation with Carmina Mock, one of the featured people in his book, to discuss both sides of Chester’s photographs—his perspective as a photographer documenting the cultural diversity of Massachusetts, and hers as the subject and an immigrant from Spain and naturalized citizen on Cape Cod.
Join them as they discuss, both from a broad and personally specific perspective, the importance of cultural diversity in Massachusetts. They (and you) will be surrounded by 30 of Chester’s photographs drawn from a larger collection of more than 300 images depicting naturalized American citizens living in Massachusetts, depicting them in their communities, at work, at play, and even occasionally in the midst of their naturalization ceremonies.

Join us for a cup of coffee as author and historian Joel Nelson discusses his newly book Kennedy’s Only Hero: How JFK’s Obsession with Winston Churchill Defined His Presidency.
Drawing on previously unpublished archival material, British historian Joel tells the story of how Churchill’s career, writings, policies, and even daily habits profoundly shaped the future President. Under Churchill’s influence, Kennedy shed his early isolationism and developed the worldview that would propel him to the White House — his conviction in peace through strength, his faith in summits, his understanding of rhetoric, his commitment to service and global engagement.
Nelson, a former Kennedy Scholar and assistant editor at Foreign Affairs journal, he currently lives in London.
