ARTIST STATEMENT:
"I came to the art world late-ish in life. Always an active outdoors woman, I have spent most of my life around open waters (except for a dozen or so years when I lived in the Northern Rockies!). An avid fisherwoman and boater, I have great appreciation of the beauty...the colors and shapes.. of all fish and shorebirds.
During Covid, I purchased some acrylic paints and canvases and began experimenting with brush strokes and color choices. I found I loved blending colors, finding color choices that I thought “worked” together. As my enthusiasm for painting grew, I realized the whimsical style I was developing worked beautifully with many of the sea creatures with which I was so familiar: fish, crabs, lobsters, horseshoe crabs, shorebirds, etc. I found I could make these subjects realistic, in my whimsical, colorful, folky way.
With the encouragement of friends and family, I grew my hobby into a small business, finding that my whimsical creatures “worked” in many homes as unusual and noteworthy additions to any wall. Additionally, I have customized my works, to include specific color or subject choices, birth dates, addresses, etc.
My painted subjects are true to life in form, but perhaps not in color! Painting is my passion….I get lost in every picture I create."
