Kathryn Perkins

Kathryn is an award winning Cape Cod and Sanibel Island shell artist who brings her love of the ocean to create one of a kind shell art. Both of her parents were born and raised on Cape Cod and she resided her early years and every summer on its beaches and sailing in Lewis Bay. She began college as an Art major and Art History minor with many of her pieces featured in her college magazine and as gifts to family and friends. Her studies shifted but her love of creating continues through today. She saw her first Sailor's Valentine in a shop in Osterville made by Sandy Moran. After many family trips to Sanibel Island, which has the best shelling in the United States and is home to the Sanibel Shell show, she wanted to know more about this art form. She studied with Sandy Moran, a world renowned shell artist, and was encouraged to enter in competitions in both Cape Cod and Sanibel Shell Shows. After ribboning in her first show, she was encouraged to continue learning and exploring this art form. Kathryn’s one of a kind shell creations are in private collections throughout the United States and she is often commissioned for custom creations. She once again lives on Cape Cod full time and her Mashpee studio is filled with thousands of shells aligned by color, size and species. Creating pieces inspired by the sea include maps, pictures, boxes, mirrors, frames and more.
