Joanne Wedge

Joanne Wedge was born and brought up in the beautiful hills of Western Mass. She became a lover of the Cape during her first visit at the age of eight and moved here permanently many years later. She has had a lifelong passion for jewelry and for the sea. After taking an early retirement from the Corporate Technology world she decided to explore a melding of her two loves and began making jewelry. Incorporating the colors of the sea, she began her journey creating colorful pieces from beads and sea glass. Over the years she enjoyed a variety of techniques, finding her joy in the art of Chain Maille.
Chain Maille is the art of hand-weaving scales and rings of sterling silver, gold-filled rings, titanium, bright and anodized aluminum, stainless steel, among others into beautiful necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and accessories. Swarovski crystals, pearls, sea glass and other embellishments are sometimes worked into the designs. Depending on the design being woven and the density of the rings, it can take many hours to complete a piece. There are a myriad of documented designs upon which to build one’s own special pieces - the only limit is one’s imagination.
