Jay Pacunas’s artistic expression began with fabric as her medium in clothing design and quilting. She transferred her love of color to watercolor painting when she moved to Cape Cod after retiring. Jay captures the beautiful light of the sand, sky and water with a gentle style that is calm and soothing. She has studied with numerous artists and continues to experiment with capturing the essence of Cape Cod beaches and seascapes.
Like most artists, she felt the need to expand into a different medium, hence her works in acrylics and water-soluble oils – healthier for her and the environment. Her paintings evolve as she learns and continues to appreciate the beauty of the Cape. Whatever the medium, she loves to paint.
Jay is an award winning fine art juried member of the Cape Cod Art Center. She’s president of the Monday Painters and exhibits in the summer outdoors on Mondays on the Village Green of Dennis. She is an active member of the Yarmouth Art Guild and exhibits in their shows and summer tent sales. Her paintings are in homes in Canada, New England and all along the east coast. Two of her works were chosen to be featured on menus at the Daniel Webster Inn in Sandwich. Jay’s art is online at www.jaysartstudio.com where you can see her paintings and tiles.
