Born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I now live in Bourne with my husband. I’ve been painting for over 40 years, and it has been an incredible creative journey. About six years ago, I discovered the fascinating world of acrylic pouring and was instantly captivated. What began as a simple curiosity has grown into a true passion. I am a self-taught paint pour artist who loves exploring the limitless possibilities of this expressive and beautifully unpredictable medium.
Paint pouring is a unique and exciting process—it is not done with a brush. Using fluid paints, each piece is created through a careful balance that produces a scientific reaction on the canvas. The surface is flooded with paint and then manipulated through movement, air, or tools to create mesmerizing patterns and organic designs. Every pour involves a precise combination of paints, mediums, and conditioners mixed to the perfect consistency, encouraging the magical “cell” reactions that make this art form so captivating.
Over time, I’ve focused on mastering several paint pouring techniques, including:
• The Dutch Pour – Performed on a flooded canvas and blown out with a hair dryer to create soft, feathery, botanical shapes.
• The Swipe Technique – Using a paint conditioner swiped over layered colors to reveal beautiful lacing and cell action.
• The Bloom Technique – An intricate style where colors are layered and blown out, creating detailed, flowing patterns and rich abstract designs.
While most paint pour artists focus on abstract work, I’ve taken the Bloom Technique further by developing my own signature style:
• Acrylic Bloom Flowers – Multiple blooms are poured on a single canvas to create the illusion of flowers and leaves—vibrant, organic, and full of life. This has become my trademark style and brings me so much joy to create.
Whether working on canvas, wood, or jewelry, paint pouring continues to inspire me with its endless possibilities and the beauty of its calculated randomness. No two pieces are ever the same, which makes each creation truly one of a kind.
