DESCRIPTION:Historic Reservation Walking Tour + Quaker Hospitality \nSunday\, October 26\, 2025    9:30am \nIn 1713\, Yarmouth residents laid out a 160-acre reservation for the indigenous peoples of Yarmouth to live upon. This confined area was their home for 65-years. Join Wampanoag/Nipmuc\, Waban Webquish (Marcus Hendricks)\, and local historian\, Bob Kelley\, on this walk around the boundaries of this one-time reservation to learn more about those that once lived here. \nThis special annual walk starts at Packet Landing and is designed to finish at the Yarmouth Quaker Meetinghouse\, just after their service is finished. Tour participants are invited to break bread with the Friends in the Ancient Schoolhouse on the Quaker grounds. Refreshments are included with this special tour. \nFee: $15 Members\, $20 Not-Yet-Members –> HSOY Members receive discounted program tickets\, among other perks! DESCRIPTION:Indigenous History Walk & Talk \nSaturday\, September 27\, 2025 @ 10:00 AM \nThe Historical Society of Old Yarmouth invites you to join Nipmuc-Wampanoag\, Waban Webquish (Marcus Hendricks)\, and local historian\, Bob Kelley\, on this guided\, one-mile\, Native American Talk/Walk program along HSOY’s Thacher Trail. Discussions will range from the Woodland Period through 200 years after the Contact Period\, and cover such topics as hunting\, fishing\, domestic life\, and local Native American\, Thomas Greenough – one of the last “Praying Indians” to live here at Yarmouth. The walk will begin at the Shade Arbor in the meadow by Kelley Chapel. \n​Note: Mass EBT\, WIC\, and ConnectorCare card holders are eligible for 50% off program tickets through the Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program.
