SUMMARY:Greater Boston Paranormal Associates presents ‘The Sea Witch: The Most Haunted Ghost Ship'
DESCRIPTION:Greater Boston Paranormal Associates presents ‘The Sea Witch: The Most Haunted Ghost Ship’ \n  \nThe USS Salem is a storied warship\, and was at one time the most powerful vessel in the United States Navy’s vaunted arsenal. She was never given the opportunity to use her massive 8′ automatic cannons in anger\, but there was plenty of misery and death aboard the Salem. She sprung into action during the earthquake outbreak of 1953 in Greece and was the largest of the medical facilities ships sent to the region from around the world. Rumor has it\, a thousand were treated over the 4 day stay…And some of those souls never left the Salem. They are still aboard\, some looking for their lost loved ones.\nPresented by Don DeCristofano and Sondra Morgan of the Greater Boston Paranormal Associates.\nLearn more in this thrilling\, edge of your seat program on Saturday January 31st at 1pm in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library. \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:Anthony Sammarco talks Prince Spaghetti
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti Night!\nMost of us remember Anthony Martignetti being called by his mother “Anthony!” she yelled\, and he ran through Boston’s North End\, returning home to spaghetti\, which became a tradition on Wednesday in Boston. This lecture deals with the history of spaghetti in Naples\, Italy and how by the early 20th century there were many pasta manufacturers providing this staple food to Italian immigrants. One of the largest was Prince and it was both popular as well as successful\, with their factory being in Spaghettiville.\nPlease join us in welcoming Anthony Sammarco giving this exciting talk on this delightful tidbit of American history!\nThis program will take place on Saturday January 10th\, 2026 at 1:00pm in the Main Meeting Room.\nFor more information or to register for this program\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757\nRegistration is not required\, however\, Anthony Sammarco’s lectures are wildly popular and are expected to fill up fast! Secure your spot today.

DESCRIPTION:In this edition of our “See America” series\, our adventure guide Steve Farrar will focus on the tremendous diversity within relatively short distances which highlights the group of Southwestern National Parks. Although all five of the parks we will visit are in desert ecosystems\, the environments range from the 13\,000’ elevation in Great Basin to the flats of Badwater Basin at 282 feet below sea level in Death Valley. Saving the best for last\, we will end up seeing the Grand Canyon top-to-bottom! Join us as Steve takes us on a visual tour that includes some of the most iconic images found throughout the entire National Park system. \nThis program will take place on Saturday December 20th\, 2025\,  at 11:00am in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:Night Skies Planetarium in the Atrium Event!
DESCRIPTION:On December 20th\, 2025\, the Osterville Village Library turns the Anne Williams McGraw into a massive Night Skies PLANETARIUM with Michael Francis! Learn all about stars and planets! \nTo many the Universe is a closed book of secrets never to be read. Almost four hundred years ago\, an unknown court mathematician in Italy opened that book and laid the foundation for modern science. Galileo Galilei turned his telescope to the heavens to discover mountains and craters on the moon\, four moons of Jupiter\, and countless stars never before seen. Even more significant was his method of observation and mathematical analysis. He taught future scientists the way to discover the laws of nature. The Starry Messenger is a dramatic fun filled adaptation of Galileo’s short treatise “Siderius Nuncius”.Galileo (dressed in 17th century Costume) arrives to present a public lecture on his most recent discoveries made using his newly devised spyglass. As he describes those discoveries\, Galileo’s new method of observation and measurement of nature become apparent. Throughout the presentation audience members are actively involved in experiments and demonstrations. After the lecture\, Galileo answers questions about his experiments\, his life and his times. \nPrograms will run hourly from 10:00am-3:00pm\, 25 people per program. For more information please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:Book Launch with Sam Barber ‘The Story of Sam Barber: Reflections of my Time’
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Osterville Village Library in welcoming artist and author Sam Barber with his exciting book launch and author talk ‘Reflections of my Time’. \nBorn in Europe\, Barber was schooled in New York\, retaining an old world aesthetic eye while determined and open to new challenges. He attended the National Academy of Design and the prestigious Art Students League in the late 1960’s. He went on to study with Henry Hensche at the distinguished Cape School of Art. The school was organized by the American Impressionists\, whose foundations complemented Barber’s style. \nHis lasting attraction to cape Cod is in the special play of light that changes constantly. It is where the fleeting light catches glimpses of rippling water\, verdant meadows and bursting flowers that Barber sets up his easel\, oils and canvas. Sam Barber’s work embodies the natural beauty of Cape Cod and New England. His paintings are in 50 major museums and corporate collections and have won numerous regional and national awards. To see his works please visit www.sambarber.com \nThis book launch will talk place in the Main Meeting Room at the OVL on Sunday November 30th\, 2025\, at 1:00pm. \nFor more information and to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:Shipwrecks throughout History with Greg Ketchen
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an exciting program about historic shipwrecks that have occurred south and east of Massachusetts. This region has been called the ‘Graveyard of the North Atlantic’\, and with over 3\,000 wrecks here since European sailors first began exploring the shores of the western Atlantic\, there is good reason for the title. Because of the hazards experienced by ships sailing these waters\, Massachusetts was the 18th century birthplace of the modern United States Coast Guard. This presentation will include an overview of shipwrecks\, their causes\, and the evolution of response resources and programs. \nThis program will be presented by retired Coast Guard Captain and Osterville Resident\, Greg Ketchen\, on Saturday November 29th\, 2025\, at 1:00pm in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library. \nFor more information or to register for this program\, please reach out to Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:National Parks of the Southern US with Adventurer Steve Farrar
DESCRIPTION:The entire southern section of the US was at one time under a great inland sea.\nIn this edition of our National Parks series\, our tour guide Steve Farrar will be\nshowing the myriad of ways that earlier submersion has resulted in the fantastic\ngeographic features on display in our Southern National Parks. The largest marine\nfossil reef on earth makes up two of our Parks\, one above ground and one below.\nWe will visit the largest gypsum field on the planet\, examine the densest\nconcentration of petrified logs found anywhere\, and go climbing in the only\nNational Park to entirely contain a complete mountain range. \nThis program will be held on Saturday November 22nd\, 2025\, at 11:00am in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757
