SUMMARY:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ Artists on the Cape
DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. Cravenho believes strongly in art’s ability to armor oneself: “Becoming an adult as an artist and putting on your survival mechanism to express your power through your work is a gift from beyond ourselves.” \nJoin artists for an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3-5pm\, or drop by Cotuit Center for the Arts between May 23 and June 21\, 2026 during visiting times to view this powerful visual collection of LGBTQ+ voices. \nMark Adams \nJoerg Dressler \nBeth Faherty \nKenneth Hawkey \nMegan Hinton \nPete Hocking \nMarc Kundmann \nFran O’Neill \nPaul Rizzo \nChristopher Sousa \nAlan Trugman \nForrest Williams \nLaurence Young \nSponsored by the Mass Cultural Council and the Mid-Cape Cultural Council

SUMMARY:JIMMY TINGLE: The “Radical” Middle — Why Would A Comedian Run For Office?
DESCRIPTION:A 50-minute comedy/documentary followed by a Q & A and Performance \n  \nIn JIMMY TINGLE: The “Radical” Middle — Why Would A Comedian Run For Office? Jimmy chronicles his fascinating transition from a life as a seasoned comedian to a desire to enter into politics\, for real this time. \nHe applies his distinctive Boston brand of humor to solve some of America’s most complex problems. \nThis original and autobiographical film challenges audiences to move beyond the politics of tweets\, sound bites\, and the nightly — or hourly — news cycle… and into the realm of long-term thinking and life-affirming possibility\, as the United States faces the election of 2024 with a myriad of emotions\, passions and theories. \nThrough the lens of common sense\, comedy\, commentary and conversation\, Jimmy aspires to contribute to the national dialogue in a hopeful\, positive — and funny — way as America strives to create\, in the words of Abraham Lincoln: “a more perfect union.” \nJimmy’s ingenuity and deep compassion provide a much-needed and thought-provoking antidote to the politics of our day. \nWatch this 50-minute compilation of stand-up performance\, historic footage and at-home interviews to remember the healing power of humor; and it just might help you get to the polls in November. \n  \nTickets available at: https://cotuit.org/shows-events

SUMMARY:Dan Lyons In Concert
DESCRIPTION:Dan Lyons In Concert\n\n\nFriday\, May 22\, 2026         7:30pm – 9:30pm\n\n\n  \nCape Cod native Dan Lyons has been part of the Cape music scene for decades\, playing with different groups\, most notably 57 Heavy\, with whom he played for 20 years. These days\, you can often find him performing as a duo in the summer and fall months with his long-time friend Eric Short. But his lifelong dream has been to publish his own music\, and he’s finally done that with the release of a new album\, Hoarder\, Volume 1. While Dan provides all the vocals and much of instrumental work in the songs\, the songs also include some contributions by various musician friends Dan has worked with over the years\, which is why the name on the CD is The Dan Lyons Alliance. But make no mistake\, this is Dan’s baby. It was he and good friend Duggan of the Blue Banshee Recording Studio who spent months and months in the studio piecing together the numerous instrumental and vocal tracks that went into each song. \n  \nTickets available at: https://cotuit.org/shows-events/the-dan-lyons-alliance
