DESCRIPTION:The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster presents Forest Bathing Meditation Walks: Deepening your Relationship with Nature with CCMNH Field Guide Carol Marcy. \nImmerse yourself in the unique environments of marsh\, creek\, forest and beach surrounding the Museum and learn to pay attention in a new way with Carol Marcy’s guided meditations. The walk moves slowly interspersed with reflections that encourage a deep connection with your surroundings. Learn how slowing down\, grounding and opening your awareness to the abundant life in and around you\, can be healing\, calming\, peaceful and deeply refreshing. \nThe practice of forest bathing comes to us from Japan\, and draws inspiration from ancient Shinto and Buddhist practices that recognize the healing qualities of nature. You will bathe in the living being of the Forest by taking deep breaths of air filled with the calming scent of pine\, experiencing the breeze on your skin\, hearing the sound of the leaf orchestra under the direction of the wind and trees\, soaking up the healing rays of the sun\, and seeing the vast array of colors and shapes provided by Nature. \nCarol Marcy has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology\, a Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and is a certified Meditation teacher. \nSEPTEMBER\nFridays\n5th ~12:30pm-2pm\n19th ~ 12:30pm-2pm\n26th ~ 10:30am-12pm \nOCTOBER\nFridays\n10th ~ 12:30pm-2pm\n17th ~ 10am-11:30am\n24th ~ 10:30am-12pm \n*Rain cancels the walk / This walk is about 1.5 miles over somewhat challenging terrain and will last approximately 90 minutes. DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery presents: “Gardens & Beaches” by Eve Aspinwall \nJuly 2 – August 30\, 2025 \nCape Cod Museum of Natural History \nNaturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents Gardens & Beaches\, paintings by artist and art educator\, Eve Aspinwall\, July 2 – August 30\, 2025\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist Statement:\n“I didn’t set out to do paintings of my garden\, I just couldn’t help myself. This is where we spend much of our time when we’re not enjoying the beaches\, so it seems natural to include them in a summer show. Like the beach\, the garden changes every day and every year\, and yet\, the underlying rhythms remain the same. Softly undulating swaths of color and light\, the curves of pathways and layered natural forms\, all bring a sense of serenity and wonder. \nI am interested in both realism and abstraction and how the two ways of seeing connect with expressionism – the ways we feel. For me\, the beach is a primal place\, vast and inspiring\, nourishing and refreshing. In our yards and gardens\, we try to create our own nourishing landscape – with varying degrees of success. A garden is an intimate\, evolving relationship with nature and its wild possibilities and surprises.” \nEve studied at Vesper George School of Art\, School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts\, Massachusetts College of Art\, and Lesley College School of Expressive Therapies and she holds a BFA in Printmaking and Drawing from the Massachusetts College of Art \nAs an art educator\, Eve taught at Buckingham\, Browne and Nichols School\, Cambridge\, MA\, Brookline Adult Education\, Nauset Community Education\, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History\, private lessons and workshops. Rich Mondays & Thursdays June 16– August 28\, 2025 from 10am-1pm. \nJoin Cape Cod wildlife woodcarver\, Stephen C. Rich in the scenic Marshview Room at the Museum to observe a rare demonstration: transforming a simple block of wood into a beautiful bird! Ask questions and enjoy the Eldridge Arnold carving workshop exhibit. \nAlthough largely self-taught\, Stephen took up woodcarving in 1987 and has studied under some of the best-known carvers in local classes given by carver/teacher\, June Noll\, and in seminars with established carvers. After starting with a few simple decoys\, he made steady progress into the ranks of advanced wood carvers and artisans. \nStephen has lived on Cape Cod since 1985 with his studio located near the waterways and marshlands of Osterville and Marston’s Mills. This is the habitat of hawks\, osprey\, blue herons\, ducks of all kinds\, swans\, and countless other species. This is where we spend much of our time when we’re not enjoying the beaches\, so it seems natural to include them in a summer show. Like the beach\, the garden changes every day and every year\, and yet\, the underlying rhythms remain the same. Softly undulating swaths of color and light\, the curves of pathways and layered natural forms\, all bring a sense of serenity and wonder. \nI am interested in both realism and abstraction and how the two ways of seeing connect with expressionism – the ways we feel. For me\, the beach is a primal place\, vast and inspiring\, nourishing and refreshing. In our yards and gardens\, we try to create our own nourishing landscape – with varying degrees of success. Rich Mondays & Thursdays June 16– August 28\, 2025 from 10am-1pm. \nJoin Cape Cod wildlife woodcarver\, Stephen C. Rich in the scenic Marshview Room at the Museum to observe a rare demonstration: transforming a simple block of wood into a beautiful bird! Ask questions and enjoy the Eldridge Arnold carving workshop exhibit. \nAlthough largely self-taught\, Stephen took up woodcarving in 1987 and has studied under some of the best-known carvers in local classes given by carver/teacher\, June Noll\, and in seminars with established carvers. After starting with a few simple decoys\, he made steady progress into the ranks of advanced wood carvers and artisans. \nStephen has lived on Cape Cod since 1985 with his studio located near the waterways and marshlands of Osterville and Marston’s Mills. This is the habitat of hawks\, osprey\, blue herons\, ducks of all kinds\, swans\, and countless other species. DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery presents: “Gardens & Beaches” by Eve Aspinwall \nJuly 2 – August 30\, 2025 \nCape Cod Museum of Natural History \nNaturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents Gardens & Beaches\, paintings by artist and art educator\, Eve Aspinwall\, July 2 – August 30\, 2025\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist Statement:\n“I didn’t set out to do paintings of my garden\, I just couldn’t help myself. This is where we spend much of our time when we’re not enjoying the beaches\, so it seems natural to include them in a summer show. Like the beach\, the garden changes every day and every year\, and yet\, the underlying rhythms remain the same. Softly undulating swaths of color and light\, the curves of pathways and layered natural forms\, all bring a sense of serenity and wonder. \nI am interested in both realism and abstraction and how the two ways of seeing connect with expressionism – the ways we feel. For me\, the beach is a primal place\, vast and inspiring\, nourishing and refreshing. In our yards and gardens\, we try to create our own nourishing landscape – with varying degrees of success. Rich Mondays & Thursdays June 16– August 28\, 2025 from 10am-1pm. \nJoin Cape Cod wildlife woodcarver\, Stephen C. Rich in the scenic Marshview Room at the Museum to observe a rare demonstration: transforming a simple block of wood into a beautiful bird! Ask questions and enjoy the Eldridge Arnold carving workshop exhibit. \nAlthough largely self-taught\, Stephen took up woodcarving in 1987 and has studied under some of the best-known carvers in local classes given by carver/teacher\, June Noll\, and in seminars with established carvers. After starting with a few simple decoys\, he made steady progress into the ranks of advanced wood carvers and artisans. \nStephen has lived on Cape Cod since 1985 with his studio located near the waterways and marshlands of Osterville and Marston’s Mills. This is the habitat of hawks\, osprey\, blue herons\, ducks of all kinds\, swans\, and countless other species. The walk moves slowly interspersed with reflections that encourage a deep connection with your surroundings. Learn how slowing down\, grounding and opening your awareness to the abundant life in and around you\, can be healing\, calming\, peaceful and deeply refreshing. \nThe practice of forest bathing comes to us from Japan and draws inspiration from ancient Shinto and Buddhist practices that recognize the healing qualities of nature. You will bathe in the living being of the Forest by taking deep breaths of air filled with the calming scent of pine\, experiencing the breeze on your skin\, hearing the sound of the leaf orchestra under the direction of the wind and trees\, soaking up the healing rays of the sun\, and seeing the vast array of colors and shapes provided by Nature. \nCarol Marcy has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology\, a Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and is a certified Meditation teacher. \n*Rain cancels the walk / This walk is a little over a mile long and will last approximately 90 minutes. This is where we spend much of our time when we’re not enjoying the beaches\, so it seems natural to include them in a summer show. Like the beach\, the garden changes every day and every year\, and yet\, the underlying rhythms remain the same. Softly undulating swaths of color and light\, the curves of pathways and layered natural forms\, all bring a sense of serenity and wonder. \nI am interested in both realism and abstraction and how the two ways of seeing connect with expressionism – the ways we feel. For me\, the beach is a primal place\, vast and inspiring\, nourishing and refreshing. In our yards and gardens\, we try to create our own nourishing landscape – with varying degrees of success. A garden is an intimate\, evolving relationship with nature and its wild possibilities and surprises.” \nEve studied at Vesper George School of Art\, School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts\, Massachusetts College of Art\, and Lesley College School of Expressive Therapies and she holds a BFA in Printmaking and Drawing from the Massachusetts College of Art \nAs an art educator\, Eve taught at Buckingham\, Browne and Nichols School\, Cambridge\, MA\, Brookline Adult Education\, Nauset Community Education\, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History\, private lessons and workshops. The walk moves slowly interspersed with reflections that encourage a deep connection with your surroundings. Learn how slowing down\, grounding and opening your awareness to the abundant life in and around you\, can be healing\, calming\, peaceful and deeply refreshing. \nThe practice of forest bathing comes to us from Japan and draws inspiration from ancient Shinto and Buddhist practices that recognize the healing qualities of nature. You will bathe in the living being of the Forest by taking deep breaths of air filled with the calming scent of pine\, experiencing the breeze on your skin\, hearing the sound of the leaf orchestra under the direction of the wind and trees\, soaking up the healing rays of the sun\, and seeing the vast array of colors and shapes provided by Nature. \nCarol Marcy has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology\, a Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and is a certified Meditation teacher. \n*Rain cancels the walk / This walk is a little over a mile long and will last approximately 90 minutes. Rich Mondays & Thursdays June 16– August 28\, 2025 from 10am-1pm. \nJoin Cape Cod wildlife woodcarver\, Stephen C. Rich in the scenic Marshview Room at the Museum to observe a rare demonstration: transforming a simple block of wood into a beautiful bird! Ask questions and enjoy the Eldridge Arnold carving workshop exhibit. \nAlthough largely self-taught\, Stephen took up woodcarving in 1987 and has studied under some of the best-known carvers in local classes given by carver/teacher\, June Noll\, and in seminars with established carvers. After starting with a few simple decoys\, he made steady progress into the ranks of advanced wood carvers and artisans. \nStephen has lived on Cape Cod since 1985 with his studio located near the waterways and marshlands of Osterville and Marston’s Mills. This is the habitat of hawks\, osprey\, blue herons\, ducks of all kinds\, swans\, and countless other species.
