SUMMARY:Naturescape Gallery presents "Flora" exhibit featuring Artist Katherine Nora
DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. The mural is a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the train arriving in Orleans. \nA multi-talented artist\, Katherine is also the author of three novels\, two of which are historical fiction set in Orleans: Theo and Ria and Sipson’s Island; and Pepromeno\, a Greek word meaning destiny or fate\, chronicles a son’s discovery of his missing father. \nYou can view more of Katherine’s work on her Instagram page: k.nora_art\, or at\nAdorn 211 Main St\, Orleans\, MA 02653\, adorncapecod.com. \n*Included with Museum Admission \nFor more information\, please call the Museum at 508-896-3867 ext. 133.
