Guyer Barn FAQ
Any group or individual may submit an application for use. Final selections are made by committee and decisions are based on artistic merit and community impact, among other criteria. The following are taken into consideration: program dates; program variety; diversity and potential for generating revenue and positive promotion for the Guyer Barn, the HyArts Campus and the Town of Barnstable.
Use of space fees are extremely affordable, designed with creatives and artist organizations in mind. The day rate for The Guyer Barn is $200 with each additional day $50. One week is $350, two weeks is $500, and one month is $800.
There is a mandatory (refundable) security deposit required, separate from the fee.
Guyer Barn requires a 50% non refundable deposit two weeks from approval to reserve the dates.
No refunds. In the event of an emergency or medical situation contact the Guyer Barn Coordinator to discuss.
In the event Town of Barnstable or Massachusetts State guidelines require
businesses to close to the public for an extended period of time due to unforeseen
circumstances/situations beyond anyone’s control, renters with programs taking place during those mandated closed dates will receive a rent refund less processing fee.
No. There are no regular staff hours at the Guyer Barn.
If you want to exhibit at Guyer Barn you must set your own staff and hours.
No. While we encourage artists to open the doors and engage with the public during exhibitions and art shows, we understand that certain uses, such as fee-based workshops or community meetings, are better served by keeping the event private.

The most successful projects at Guyer Barn that attract the most attendees or students are those that actively promote and advertise through their own marketing methods. The Town of Barnstable does not guarantee attendance or media coverage of Guyer Barn programs.
The Guyer Barn has two rooms on the ground floor available for your use.
The larger room is 29 ft long x 17 ft wide. The smaller room is 20 ft long x 13.5 ft wide.
On the first floor there is an accessible bathroom, a kitchenette with a microwave and mini fridge, and a small storage room with a utility sink. There is also a loft area only accessible by two flights of spiral stairs where you may store supplies during your stay. The loft area is not open to the public.
The person or group renting the Guyer Barn is responsible for cleaning and removing trash during and at the end of their rental. There are cleaning products in the supply closets and you must wipe down all surfaces in the bathroom, kitchenette, and leave the floors swept. All trash must be taken with you, there are no dumpsters on the property.
The Guyer Barn has a capacity of fifty-five (55) people at any one time.
Thirty-five (35) in the larger room and twenty (20) in the smaller room.
If the barn doors are open, additional people may be outside when the capacity has been reached in the interior spaces. The HyArts Campus parking lot may be closed off to cars with Town of Barnstable barriers if requested at least two weeks prior to your event.
There are six (6) folding tables, twelve (12) metal folding chairs, six (6) wooden floor easels, and four (4) wooden table top easels available at the Barn. These items have been used for art classes and may have paint stains or marks on them. If being used for an opening, we recommend covering the tables with tablecloths.
There are also a few wooden tables and wooden chairs in the loft that you may use downstairs as long as you return to the loft following your event.
The Guyer Barn is part of the Hyannis HyArts Campus and shares 5 parking spaces and 1 accessible parking space with the other Campus studios. It is adjacent to the Town Hall public parking lot, one block from Hyannis Main Street and walking distance to several other Town public and paid parking lots.
With certain limitations, and only with prior approval from Guyer Barn Program Coordinator. Music levels must be kept at a minimum, as there are residences in close proximity to the barn. All amplification must start no earlier than 9:00am and end by 10:00pm.
Special One Day licenses are issued by the Licensing Authority at a regularly scheduled meeting and must be applied for at least 30 days before the event.
Any event open to the general public may serve alcoholic beverages with a valid license on the premise.
