SUMMARY:Build Your Own Toy Theater with Dream Tale Puppets in Cotuit
DESCRIPTION:Dream Tale Puppets invites children ages 4 and up and their families to a joyful\, hands-on experience: building miniature theaters out of cardboard and creating puppets to perform on a paper stage. \nAll materials will be provided.\nParticipation by parents or guardians is encouraged and welcomed\, especially to assist children under 7. \nThe workshop will be led by members of the Dream Tale Puppets ensemble:\nJacek Zuzanski\, a theater and puppetry artist and teacher\, and Sarah Kahn\, a performer\, artist\, and art teacher. \nThe project is inspired by the toy theaters that were popular in the early 19th century—miniature stages printed on paperboard and sold in kits at opera houses\, intended for assembly and imaginative play at home.

Or worse\, hanging our hopes on the politicians who continue to architect our oppression. Community conversation on how we seed the solidarity and grow beyond this turbulent world we inhabit now is so important. \nBring yourself\, something to write on\, and purchase a copy of Diaspora-ish from Belonging Books before or at the event. \nThis author event will kick off the weekend for What was Lost / Can be Remembered — an immersive\, community-centered art exhibition and collage workshop by Annika Sarin and payal kumar\, author event with Gayatri Sethi that explores the invisible links connecting us through collective memory\, ancestral inheritance\, and shared storytelling.

SUMMARY:Collage Workshop with Annika Sarin and Payal Kumar
DESCRIPTION:Collage Workshop with Annika Sarin and Payal Kumar \nJuly 18\, 2026 \nJoin us at Belonging Books and The Cordial Eye for What Was Lost / Can Be Remembered — an immersive\, community-centered art exhibition and event series that explores the invisible links connecting us through collective memory\, ancestral inheritance\, and shared storytelling. \nAlongside the art exhibition by Annika Sarin and Payal Kumar\, the artists will facilitate a collage workshop. Annika and payal will facilitate a community collage workshop where participants are invited to bring family photographs to create their own family-history-based artworks. \nWe will explore the questions: who gets access to nostalgia? What happens when we examine the past together through personal family history? And what can we gain from facing the past collectively for a better shared future? \nThe art exhibition (July 17-Aug 7) features: \n* Annika Sarin\, a multidisciplinary artist who utilizes design as a tool for care\, change\, and community-building\, and\n* payal kumar\, a multidisciplinary cultural worker whose work is grounded in forms of folk art and [sub]cultural resistance. \nAlongside the exhibition\, on July 18\, we will host an author event and collage workshop. \nIn the morning (10 am)\, Gayatri Sethi\, educator\, cultural worker and author of Diaspora-ish\, will lead a conversation on Seeding Solidarity in Community. Amidst ongoing genocides and wars\, escalating violence against immigrants\, and the tightening fist of fascism\, many of us are falling into despair. Community conversation on how we seed solidarity and grow beyond this turbulent world we inhabit now is so important. “Diaspora-ish” will be available to purchase from Belonging Books. \nIn the afternoon (1 pm)\, Annika and payal will facilitate a community collage workshop where participants are invited to bring family photographs to create their own family-history-based artworks.

SUMMARY:Dream Tale Puppets Presents “Alice\, or the Red King’s Dream” in Cotuit
DESCRIPTION:Dream Tale Puppets will present “Alice\, or the Red King’s Dream”\, fantastically nonsensical adventures of a little girl inspired by Lewis Carroll’s writings\, for children 5 years old and up and their families. The door will open at 10:40 a.m. Admission is $7 at the door (cash only). \nStep into a world of fantasy\, make-believe\, and play\, and join little Alice in search of her lost kitten. Follow her as she falls down the rabbit hole and enters a curious land of puzzles\, talking flowers\, and a jumble of characters from Lewis Carroll’s stories. Each of Alice’s encounters—some silly\, some strange\, and some a little spooky—challenges her sense of reality and her sense of self. Will Alice find her kitten? Will anyone lend a hand? And how do you navigate a place where logic takes a nap? Join Alice on her topsy-turvy adventure and see where the dream leads! \nThe performance features a variety of puppet types\, including tabletop\, figure\, glove\, and rod puppets. The sets and most of the puppets were created by Jacek Zuzanski\, who will be joined on stage by Margaret Moody and Sarah Kahn. \nThis event is the third one in the Cotuit Puppetry Series. Following “Alice\, or the Red King’s Dream\,” the series wraps up with a performance of “Badger Meets the Fairies” by Margaret Moody Puppets\, on Monday\, July 27th at 11:00 a.m.\, also at Freedom Hall. \nDream Tale Puppets\, founded in 2003 and led by Jacek Zuzanski\, is a touring ensemble of artists living on Cape Cod and beyond. The theatre offers original puppetry performances for children and families\, as well as workshops and classes\, and trains actors-puppeteers. \nThis program is supported in part by a grant from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency.

SUMMARY:Dream Tale Puppets Presents “Badger Meets the Fairies” by Margaret Moody Puppets in Cotuit
DESCRIPTION:Dream Tale Puppets will present “Badger Meets the Fairies” by Margaret Moody Puppets for children ages 4 and up and their families. The door will open at 10:40. The show lasts about 40 minutes. \nMr. Badger is thrilled to meet Blossom\, a flower fairy\, in the garden. He flies away with her to help the fairies build a playground. But then it’s complicated: the fairies won’t use cement\, and Mr. Badger wants to learn to fly. This gentle tale is based on European fairy lore. Fairy puppets and sets for their garden were built by visual artist Sandra Pastrana and Margaret Moody. Alison Plante of Berklee School of Music composed original music for the piece based on Celtic melodies. \nDream Tale Puppets\, founded in 2003 and led by Jacek Zuzanski\, is a touring ensemble of artists based on Cape Cod and beyond. The theatre offers original puppetry performances for children and families\, workshops and classes\, and occasionally presents other puppetry theatres.\nThis program is supported in part by a grant from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency.
