DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. The door will open at 10:40 a.m. Admission is $7 at the door (cash only). \nStep into a world of fantasy\, make-believe\, and play\, and join little Alice in search of her lost kitten. Follow her as she falls down the rabbit hole and enters a curious land of puzzles\, talking flowers\, and a jumble of characters from Lewis Carroll’s stories. Each of Alice’s encounters—some silly\, some strange\, and some a little spooky—challenges her sense of reality and her sense of self. Will Alice find her kitten? Will anyone lend a hand? And how do you navigate a place where logic takes a nap? Join Alice on her topsy-turvy adventure and see where the dream leads! \nThe performance features a variety of puppet types\, including tabletop\, figure\, glove\, and rod puppets. The sets and most of the puppets were created by Jacek Zuzanski\, who will be joined on stage by Margaret Moody and Sarah Kahn. \nThis event is the third one in the Cotuit Puppetry Series. Following “Alice\, or the Red King’s Dream\,” the series wraps up with a performance of “Badger Meets the Fairies” by Margaret Moody Puppets\, on Monday\, July 27th at 11:00 a.m.\, also at Freedom Hall. \nDream Tale Puppets\, founded in 2003 and led by Jacek Zuzanski\, is a touring ensemble of artists living on Cape Cod and beyond. DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. DESCRIPTION:Come learn about reptiles\, mammals\, birds and more from Bethany of Amazing Animal Ambassadors. Bethany has been working with wildlife for over 18 years and has a Bachelor of science in Captive Wildlife Care and Education.\nAmazing Animal Ambassadors takes in rescued animals as either injured wildlife unable to be released back into the wild\, or as illegal or unwanted exotic pets. Now those animals get to be ambassadors for their species to give you an up close opportunity to learn about them!\nThis program will take place on Monday July 21st at 10am under the tent on the Calvin C.
