DESCRIPTION:Bob Enos    An Artistic Odyssey : Realism to Abstract \nExhibit dates: February 28th – April 4th\, 2026 \nOpening Reception: February 28th 3-5pm \nARTIST STATEMENT \nMy work is increasingly abstract.  New paintings are no longer interested in representing subjects realistically.  Though made with controlled and disciplined technique\, the works break free to become sometimes playful and sometimes mysterious pieces that intrigue with their subtle changes in value\, color\, and dimension.  In some works my desire is to marry the chromatic joys and sensual play of painting with the structural strength of sculpture.  The goal in all my work is to make the viewer reach new levels of visual awareness and appreciation.

Specifically\, please wear:\nClosed toe shoes. No sandals\, flip flops\, etc.\nLong pants & socks\, no synthetics. Jeans are ok.\nLong sleeve shirt\, cotton. DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. According to curatorial materials\, Louis C. Tiffany “staffed his studios with designers\, artists\, and artisans who shared his passion for the rich colors and sinuous forms found in nature.” This gave the studio the ability to “translate natural forms faithfully into glass: velvety or paper-thin petals\, waxy or veined leaves\, dappled sunlight or shadow\, and much more.” This exhibition was put together by The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass\, in Queens\, New York.

SUMMARY:Figure Drawing from a Live Model with Joy George - at The Cape Cod Museum of Art
DESCRIPTION:Four (4) Wednesdays\, April 8\, 15\, 22\, & 29\, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. \nWork from a live model in a supportive studio setting. Each session begins with short warm-up and gesture poses to loosen up\, followed by longer poses for more detailed study. Participants are welcome to work in their medium of choice. The model may vary each week. Student-supplied materials. \nJoy George attended the University of Houston for Architecture and then Fine Arts\, completing a BFA. She studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston for her MFA in Figurative Painting and was accepted to the Newhouse School at Syracuse University\, where she studied Communications Design. Joy studies regularly with mentor\, Martin Campos of Philadelphia\, and has worked for several years with Cape Cod artist\, Laura Shabott. She also enjoys attending classes with other Cape Cod artists whenever possible. \nHer work has been featured in exhibits by the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society\, American Women Artists\, the Cape Cod Museum of Art\, the Cape Cod Art Center\, the Commons in Provincetown\, Art Fluent\, and the Gallery of the Guild of Harwich Artists. She is a juried Artist member of American Women Artists\, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society\, the Cape Cod Art Center\, and the Guild of Harwich Artists. Other professional memberships include the Copley Society of Art\, the Newton Art Association\, and the Provincetown Art Association & Museum. \nCancellation Policy: The Cape Cod Museum of Art must be notified 1 week prior for a refund.
