Students will learn how to shape and refine individual petals\, practicing consistency and intentional movement to achieve balanced\, cohesive forms. \nYou’ll explore how glass responds to heat as you flatten\, shape\, and refine each element\, then discover the techniques for bringing those pieces together—carefully reheating and assembling them into a complete flower. The process culminates in pulling and shaping a graceful\, twisty stem\, adding movement and personality to your finished piece. \nThis class blends precision with creativity\, giving you the skills to build a beautiful glass flower while gaining confidence working with borosilicate. \nSafety & What to Expect \nThis class is held at our HyArts Campus Flamework Studio \nAll participants must wear 100% cotton or linen clothing (no synthetic fabrics)\, along with closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be tied back securely before class. \nProtective eyewear will be provided to help you safely view the flame and glowing glass during the workshop. \nAll pieces created during class must cool slowly in a kiln overnight to ensure durability and prevent cracking. Finished work will be available for pickup the following day.

DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. DESCRIPTION:Dane Vannatter has been acclaimed by music critics for a style that “blends facets of cabaret and jazz with intelligence and care.” Dane is the recipient of a MAC award and two BackStage Bistro Awards. Dane performs regularly in venues in Pittsburgh\, Cleveland\, Boston and Cape Cod. DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. DESCRIPTION:Dream Tale Puppets will present “Badger Meets the Fairies” by Margaret Moody Puppets for children ages 4 and up and their families. The door will open at 10:40. The show lasts about 40 minutes. \nMr. Badger is thrilled to meet Blossom\, a flower fairy\, in the garden. He flies away with her to help the fairies build a playground. But then it’s complicated: the fairies won’t use cement\, and Mr. Badger wants to learn to fly. This gentle tale is based on European fairy lore. Fairy puppets and sets for their garden were built by visual artist Sandra Pastrana and Margaret Moody. Alison Plante of Berklee School of Music composed original music for the piece based on Celtic melodies. \nDream Tale Puppets\, founded in 2003 and led by Jacek Zuzanski\, is a touring ensemble of artists based on Cape Cod and beyond. The theatre offers original puppetry performances for children and families\, workshops and classes\, and occasionally presents other puppetry theatres.\nThis program is supported in part by a grant from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency.

Two of the ships lost were owned by Cape Codder\, and two of the captains involved hailed from the Cape \n\n\n\nAugust 24: In Deep Water\, A True Story of Sharks\, Survival\, and Courage\n\nBest-selling author MICHAEL TOUGIAS\, known for his riveting\, character-driven accounts of survival and rescue\, returns with another true tale that will put the audience on the edge of their seats. When the boat sinks 12 miles out in the Gulf of America\, three friends must survive 28 hours in open water\, facing eight-foot waves\, jellyfish stings\, hypothermia\, and circling sharks.
