SUMMARY:Naturescape Gallery presents "Flora" exhibit featuring Artist Katherine Nora
DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. The mural is a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the train arriving in Orleans. \nA multi-talented artist\, Katherine is also the author of three novels\, two of which are historical fiction set in Orleans: Theo and Ria and Sipson’s Island; and Pepromeno\, a Greek word meaning destiny or fate\, chronicles a son’s discovery of his missing father. \nYou can view more of Katherine’s work on her Instagram page: k.nora_art\, or at\nAdorn 211 Main St\, Orleans\, MA 02653\, adorncapecod.com. \n*Included with Museum Admission \nFor more information\, please call the Museum at 508-896-3867 ext. 133.

You don’t need a basketball bracket\, a whistle\, or a PhD in birding to play along—Barnstable Land Trust’s inaugural Marsh Madness is officially in session from February 22 – April 6. With more than 20\,000 acres\, Cape Cod’s marshes are the ultimate defensive line—buffering storms\, fighting sea level rise\, and taking on climate change like absolute champions. But the matchup is tough: according to the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC)\, 36% (roughly 7\,000 acres) of our historic salt marshes have already been lost or severely degraded. All March long\, it’s game on. Meet the marsh’s top contenders—from plants and birds to insects\, marine life\, and other habitat heroes (and a few notorious villains). Cast your votes\, build bragging rights\, score a chance at a prize package\, and help crown Cape Cod’s conservation champions in this truly wild Marsh Madness match-up. Join the madness. The marsh is counting on you. \nCast your vote at:  https://blt.org/marshmadness/vote

SUMMARY:Bob Enos    An Artistic Odyssey : Realism to Abstract
DESCRIPTION:Bob Enos    An Artistic Odyssey : Realism to Abstract \nExhibit dates: February 28th – April 4th\, 2026 \nOpening Reception: February 28th 3-5pm \nARTIST STATEMENT \nMy work is increasingly abstract.  New paintings are no longer interested in representing subjects realistically.  Though made with controlled and disciplined technique\, the works break free to become sometimes playful and sometimes mysterious pieces that intrigue with their subtle changes in value\, color\, and dimension.  In some works my desire is to marry the chromatic joys and sensual play of painting with the structural strength of sculpture.  The goal in all my work is to make the viewer reach new levels of visual awareness and appreciation.

View documentation from newspapers\, archival records\, novels\, sports and movies. This lecture will focus on the strong\, powerful\, ruthless\, and defiant females identifying as pirates. The underlying gender stereotypes and norms of society will be discussed in connection with the pressures placed on females which led to their decisions to become pirates. Come learn the answers to these questions: Who were some of the famous female pirates of long ago? Why would anyone (including girls) want to be a pirate? Why is it hard to find information about female pirate stories? Why was it considered so taboo for females to be at sea? \nPart of our History on Tap series—join us for an evening of local history\, conversation\, and craft brews. \nAdmission: $10 per person / $5 for members \nMust be 21+ to sample beer; IDs will be checked at the door. \nEnjoy craft beer from our sponsor\, Cape Cod Beer\, along with cheese\, crackers\, water\, and non-alcoholic beer options. \nWe highly recommend reserving your tickets on our website in advance. Popular events often sell out quickly\, and we cannot always accommodate walk-ins. Don’t miss out—plan and secure your spot! “
