SUMMARY:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ Artists on the Cape
DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. Cravenho believes strongly in art’s ability to armor oneself: “Becoming an adult as an artist and putting on your survival mechanism to express your power through your work is a gift from beyond ourselves.” \nJoin artists for an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3-5pm\, or drop by Cotuit Center for the Arts between May 23 and June 21\, 2026 during visiting times to view this powerful visual collection of LGBTQ+ voices. \nMark Adams \nJoerg Dressler \nBeth Faherty \nKenneth Hawkey \nMegan Hinton \nPete Hocking \nMarc Kundmann \nFran O’Neill \nPaul Rizzo \nChristopher Sousa \nAlan Trugman \nForrest Williams \nLaurence Young \nSponsored by the Mass Cultural Council and the Mid-Cape Cultural Council

Based on Cape Cod’s beloved John Waters’ iconic film\, Hairspray is filled to the brim with laughter\, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. \nIt’s 1962 in Baltimore\, and the lovable plus-size teen\, Tracy Turnblad\, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true\, Tracy finds herself in a struggle for integration that pits her against the reigning Teen Queen. SUMMARY:History on Tap: Cider Over the Centuries - Cheers to 250 Years!
DESCRIPTION:“Come explore the fascinating history of cider\, from its ancient European origins to its rise in colonial America and its unique role in early Cape Cod life. \n2026 marks 250 years since the founding moments of the United States. Across Cape Cod and the nation\, communities are coming together to honor this history—and cider played a central role in the daily lives of early Americans. Cider was once the drink of New England—served in taverns\, on farms\, and even aboard ships along the coast. On windswept farms and in seaside inns\, cider connected communities\, fueled debates\, and accompanied the toasts that shaped a young nation. In 1776\, the average New Englander drank over 35 gallons of hard cider a year\, and John Adams famously wrote\, “I continue my practice of drinking a Jill of Cyder in the Morning and find no ill but some good Effect.” \nJoin Norbert Sack\, founder of Sandy Neck Cider\, for a lively journey through the rise\, fall\, and revival of this iconic beverage. Discover how its story is rooted in craft\, culture\, and everyday tradition\, and enjoy a tasting of ciders celebrating centuries of history on Cape Cod. \nPart of our History on Tap series—join us for an evening of local history\, conversation\, and cider. \nAdmission: $10 per person / $5 for members \nMust be 21+ to sample cider; IDs will be checked at the door. \nEnjoy cider from the week’s special sponsor\, Sandy Neck Cider\, along with cheese\, crackers\, water\, and non-alcoholic beer options. \nWe highly recommend reserving your tickets on our website in advance. Popular events often sell out quickly\, and we cannot always accommodate walk-ins. Don’t miss out—plan and secure your spot! “
