DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape. DESCRIPTION:Tropical Fish Figurines Flamework Workshop \nat Sandwich Glass Museum \n$120 \nDive into the playful side of glass sculpting in this ocean-inspired borosilicate workshop! Students will learn how to build a small glass creature from the ground up\, focusing on colorful tropical fish while developing foundational sculpting techniques. \nYou’ll explore how to shape and control molten glass to form a recognizable figure\, learning how to properly attach and refine features like fins\, tails\, and expressive details. Emphasis is placed on heat control\, balance\, and clean construction so your piece holds together beautifully while capturing personality and movement. \nThis class combines creativity with technical skill-building\, giving you the tools to bring your own tiny sea creatures to life in glass. \nSafety & What to Expect \nThis class is held at HyArts Campus Flamework Studio \nAll participants must wear 100% cotton or linen clothing (no synthetic fabrics)\, along with closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be tied back securely before class. \nProtective eyewear will be provided to help you safely view the flame and glowing glass during the workshop. \nAll pieces created during class must cool slowly in a kiln overnight to ensure durability and prevent cracking. DESCRIPTION:Dream Tale Puppets invites children ages 4 and up and their families to a joyful\, hands-on experience: building miniature theaters out of cardboard and creating puppets to perform on a paper stage. \nAll materials will be provided.\nParticipation by parents or guardians is encouraged and welcomed\, especially to assist children under 7. \nThe workshop will be led by members of the Dream Tale Puppets ensemble:\nJacek Zuzanski\, a theater and puppetry artist and teacher\, and Sarah Kahn\, a performer\, artist\, and art teacher. \nThe project is inspired by the toy theaters that were popular in the early 19th century—miniature stages printed on paperboard and sold in kits at opera houses\, intended for assembly and imaginative play at home.

DESCRIPTION:Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.\nEXHIBIT: May 23 to June 21\, 2026\nOPENING RECEPTION: May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nOutside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a community art exhibit held at Cotuit Center for the Arts during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape.
