Classical and Contemporary Cello. \nTaiwanese cellist Chih-Yi (Joy) Chu is an artist whose work bridges classical tradition and contemporary innovation. Currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma at the New England Conservatory\, she holds a Master of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor of Science degree from National Taiwan University. \nAn accomplished orchestral and chamber musician\, she has performed as principal cellist of the National Taiwan University Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra\, collaborating with members of the Czech Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her experience also includes performances with the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic under Marin Alsop\, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra\, and the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra\, as well as appearances with the New World Symphony and other regional ensembles in the Boston area.

DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. SUMMARY:Historic Storms of Cape Cod with Author Don Wilding
DESCRIPTION:Cape Cod has always been in the path of deadly hurricanes and ferocious storms. Unwelcome summer visitors include the “Long Island Express” Hurricane of 1938\, the Great Atlantic Hurricane of 1944\, the twin Hurricanes Carol and Edna in 1954\, and Hurricane Bob in 1991. \nThese storms destroyed countless homes and left several coastal communities under several feet of water. Surging tides carried away houses with residents inside who didn’t survive and sank the Coast Guard lightship Vineyard in Buzzards Bay\, killing all 12 crew members. Fall and winter brought the benchmark Blizzard of 1978\, the nor’easter of January 1987\, and the infamous “Perfect Storm” of October 1991 which delivered some of the highest tides ever seen on the Outer Cape. \nLocal author Don Wilding revisits the Cape’s most severe weather events and their devastating impact. \nThis program will take place in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library on Saturday March 28th at 1pm. DESCRIPTION:Bob Enos    An Artistic Odyssey : Realism to Abstract \nExhibit dates: February 28th – April 4th\, 2026 \nOpening Reception: February 28th 3-5pm \nARTIST STATEMENT \nMy work is increasingly abstract.  New paintings are no longer interested in representing subjects realistically.  Though made with controlled and disciplined technique\, the works break free to become sometimes playful and sometimes mysterious pieces that intrigue with their subtle changes in value\, color\, and dimension.  In some works my desire is to marry the chromatic joys and sensual play of painting with the structural strength of sculpture.  The goal in all my work is to make the viewer reach new levels of visual awareness and appreciation.

DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy.
