DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. DESCRIPTION:Bob Enos    An Artistic Odyssey : Realism to Abstract \nExhibit dates: February 28th – April 4th\, 2026 \nOpening Reception: February 28th 3-5pm \nARTIST STATEMENT \nMy work is increasingly abstract.  New paintings are no longer interested in representing subjects realistically.  Though made with controlled and disciplined technique\, the works break free to become sometimes playful and sometimes mysterious pieces that intrigue with their subtle changes in value\, color\, and dimension.  In some works my desire is to marry the chromatic joys and sensual play of painting with the structural strength of sculpture.  The goal in all my work is to make the viewer reach new levels of visual awareness and appreciation.

Fran will also explain how helping local birdlife can reduce your own garden chores\, including having to water less\, and maintain local ecosystems. \nFran Raleigh grew up watching birds and nature in her Northern VA neighborhood. She began getting to know wild plants while earning her BS in Biology at Marietta College in OH\, and continued botanizing during grad school at SUNY-ESF in Syracuse\, where she earned MS and PhD degrees in Plant Science. A long-time visitor to Cape Cod\, she moved here permanently on her retirement. \nGardening for Life is an annual series at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History that brings experts across a range of fields to speak to hobbyists and professionals. A member of the Juilliard Pre-College faculty since 2004\, Chang is also professor of violin at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Artistic Director of Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. She is dedicated to fostering musician-citizens and has embraced leadership roles in the arts\, serving as founder and artistic director of the Lighthouse Chamber Players\, the Five College New Music Festival\, and the UMass Bach Festival and Symposium. Her performing career includes regular appearances as soloist and chamber musician in this country and abroad. Her solo and chamber recordings have been released on Albany and Bridge Records and her 2024 CD with pianist Steven Beck\, “Sonatas and Myths\,” was named a Recording of the Year by Audiophile. \nNardo Poy\, violist has been a member of the world-renowned Orpheus Chamber Orchestra since 1978 and also performs with a number of ensembles\, among them the Lighthouse Chamber Players\, the Perspectives Ensemble\, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Recently\, he has been appointed principal violist of the American Symphony Orchestra\, a position he has also held with the Santa Fe Opera and the Opera Company of Philadelphia as well as with numerous other orchestras. He has also been a member of the Broyhill Chamber Ensemble and was Artist-In-Residence at SUNY at Potsdam with the Carnegie String Quartet. For many years he was a member and frequent soloist with the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia (now the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia) and has also appeared as soloist with the North Carolina Symphony\, the Kansas City Camerata and also with Orpheus throughout the U.S.\, Europe and Japan. \nBorn in Italy\, Alberto Parrini is principal cellist of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and a member of the American Symphony and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He also performs regularly with the New York Philharmonic\, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and New Jersey Symphony and has been guest principal cellist with the American Symphony\, Cecilia Chorus\, New York Symphonic Ensemble\, Performance Santa Fe\, Stamford Symphony and Teatro Grattacielo. Alberto performed throughout the U.S. with the American Chamber Players from 2004 to 2010\, was the cellist of the St. Lawrence String Quartet in 2002-03 and spent one season as assistant principal cellist with the Richmond Symphony. Alberto has toured North America\, Europe and Asia with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project. Alberto teaches cello at Princeton University and at The College of New Jersey. \nPianist Alissa Leiser is recognized as both a soloist and collaborative artist of technical skill and interpretive command. She has performed at Alice Tully Hall\, the Ravinia Festival\, the Brooklyn Academy of Music\, The National Gallery of Art\, Bargemusic\, and the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago. Her orchestral appearances have included the New Jersey Symphony\, the New Orchestra of Boston and Orchestra New England. Her CD entitled Sounds of America with flutist Adrianne Greenbaum was featured on National Public Radio as part of the Presidential Inauguration celebration in 1992. Her festival appearances include the Grand Teton Music Festival\, Mohawk Trail Concerts and Music from Salem. Ms. Leiser holds undergraduate and advanced degrees from The Juilliard School. She has taught at Mount Holyoke College\, Smith College and most recently Amherst College\, where she taught from 1998-2015. Ms. Leiser resides in New York City and Provincetown\, Massachusetts.

John Murelle’s keen interest in song literature has earned him accolades as a concert singer. His diverse programs include song cycles of Beethoven\, Head\, Fauré\, Quilter\, Ravel\, Schubert\, Schumann and Vaughan Williams\, and highly acclaimed theme recitals including The Way You Look Tonight\, The Songs of Jerome Kern\, With A Song In My Heart\, The Songs of Rodgers and Hart\, You’re The Top! The Songs of Cole Porter\, Nice Work If You Can Get It\, The Songs of George and Ira Gershwin\, Let Yourself Go! The Songs of Irving Berlin\, La Serenata Italiana- Love songs of Italy\, and Cuban Passion\, The Songs Of Ernesto Lecuona\, If I Loved You\, The Great Love Duets with soprano Joan Kirchner.
