DESCRIPTION:DREAM BIG!   \nWinter Art 2026 \nAn Open-Juried Exhibition in the Galleries \n Cotuit Center for the Arts \nJanuary 10 -February 22\, 2026 \nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Fridays 10:00AM – 4:00PM                                           Saturdays\, 12:00PM – 4:00PM \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, January 17th\,2026\,  3:00pm-5:00pm \nOur annual family friendly exhibition is back\, this year with the focus on BIG ideas\, BIG aspirations and BIG ART! \nWith younger arts patrons in mind\, artwork for the show is displayed at a height of 4 feet throughout the exhibit – right at children’s eye level. \nThe annual exhibit is the brainchild of frequent guest curator Margaret Van Sciver\, who noticed that her own children were only looking at the bottom half of artwork when visiting museums and hoped to give all young visitors a greater experience viewing art. \nStay tuned for news about exhibit related events and opportunities for guided tours

SUMMARY:Art Talk: Subject Matter in Art History with Sue Altman
DESCRIPTION:Trace the evolution of artistic subjects from ancient narratives to modern portraits\, exploring how artists from Rembrandt to Warhol have defined what we see and why. \nChoosing a subject is one of the first decisions an artist makes. This lecture will look at the many subjects artists have chosen throughout history and how they have changed and evolved. We will look at the narratives of the ancient Near East\, the still lifes of the Dutch Baroque\, the landscapes of the Hudson River School\, and portraits of artists as varied as Rembrandt\, Van Eyck\, and Warhol\, among many others. \nCCMoA Docent Suzanne Altman is an art educator and art historian who has presented art and art history programs throughout New York\, New Jersey\, and Cape Cod for both adult and teenage audiences.
