SUMMARY:Naturescape Gallery presents "Flora" exhibit featuring Artist Katherine Nora
DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. The mural is a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the train arriving in Orleans. \nA multi-talented artist\, Katherine is also the author of three novels\, two of which are historical fiction set in Orleans: Theo and Ria and Sipson’s Island; and Pepromeno\, a Greek word meaning destiny or fate\, chronicles a son’s discovery of his missing father. \nYou can view more of Katherine’s work on her Instagram page: k.nora_art\, or at\nAdorn 211 Main St\, Orleans\, MA 02653\, adorncapecod.com. \n*Included with Museum Admission \nFor more information\, please call the Museum at 508-896-3867 ext. 133.

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Alla Zbinovsky — Tradition and Transformation in Russian Icon Painting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique one-hour talk exploring the Russian icon paintings of Cape Cod–based artist Alla Zbinovsky. Drawing on her classical training in Moscow during the 1990s and her deep connection to Byzantine and Russian sacred art\, Zbinovsky offers a rare inside look at an ancient artistic tradition kept vibrantly alive in contemporary practice. \nThrough images\, personal stories\, and insights into traditional techniques\, she will share how icons are created using egg tempera\, gold leaf\, and layered color—and how the slow\, meditative process of iconography shapes her work today. \nThis talk traces Zbinovsky’s artistic journey from her early studies with icon “Masters” in Russia to her present-day studio at The 204 in Harwich\, where she continues to paint\, teach\, and explore the intersection of spirituality and art.

SUMMARY:BLT's Marsh Madness: Where Nature Always Wins!

You don’t need a basketball bracket\, a whistle\, or a PhD in birding to play along—Barnstable Land Trust’s inaugural Marsh Madness is officially in session from February 22 – April 6. With more than 20\,000 acres\, Cape Cod’s marshes are the ultimate defensive line—buffering storms\, fighting sea level rise\, and taking on climate change like absolute champions. But the matchup is tough: according to the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC)\, 36% (roughly 7\,000 acres) of our historic salt marshes have already been lost or severely degraded. All March long\, it’s game on. Meet the marsh’s top contenders—from plants and birds to insects\, marine life\, and other habitat heroes (and a few notorious villains). Cast your votes\, build bragging rights\, score a chance at a prize package\, and help crown Cape Cod’s conservation champions in this truly wild Marsh Madness match-up. Join the madness. The marsh is counting on you. \nCast your vote at:  https://blt.org/marshmadness/vote

SUMMARY:BLT's Marsh Madness: Where Nature Always Wins!
DESCRIPTION:BLT’s Marsh Madness: Where Nature Always Wins\nSunday\, February 22\, 2026 9:00AM – Monday\, April 6\, 2026  4:00PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSalt air\, strong tides\, and serious bragging rights—welcome to Marsh Madness\, Cape Cod–style.
