SUMMARY:Night Skies Planetarium in the Atrium Event!
DESCRIPTION:On December 20th\, 2025\, the Osterville Village Library turns the Anne Williams McGraw into a massive Night Skies PLANETARIUM with Michael Francis! Learn all about stars and planets! \nTo many the Universe is a closed book of secrets never to be read. Almost four hundred years ago\, an unknown court mathematician in Italy opened that book and laid the foundation for modern science. Galileo Galilei turned his telescope to the heavens to discover mountains and craters on the moon\, four moons of Jupiter\, and countless stars never before seen. Even more significant was his method of observation and mathematical analysis. He taught future scientists the way to discover the laws of nature. The Starry Messenger is a dramatic fun filled adaptation of Galileo’s short treatise “Siderius Nuncius”.Galileo (dressed in 17th century Costume) arrives to present a public lecture on his most recent discoveries made using his newly devised spyglass. As he describes those discoveries\, Galileo’s new method of observation and measurement of nature become apparent. Throughout the presentation audience members are actively involved in experiments and demonstrations. After the lecture\, Galileo answers questions about his experiments\, his life and his times. \nPrograms will run hourly from 10:00am-3:00pm\, 25 people per program. For more information please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

DESCRIPTION:Greater Boston Paranormal Associates presents ‘The Sea Witch: The Most Haunted Ghost Ship’ \n  \nThe USS Salem is a storied warship\, and was at one time the most powerful vessel in the United States Navy’s vaunted arsenal. Rumor has it\, a thousand were treated over the 4 day stay…And some of those souls never left the Salem. They are still aboard\, some looking for their lost loved ones.\nPresented by Don DeCristofano and Sondra Morgan of the Greater Boston Paranormal Associates.\nLearn more in this thrilling\, edge of your seat program on Saturday January 31st at 1pm in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library. \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:Attract Birds to your Yard-tips & tricks with master gardener Fran Raleigh
DESCRIPTION:Bring the Cape’s most beautiful\, fascinating — and sometimes dramatic –birds to your own back yard with tips and tricks from master gardener Fran Raleigh at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History on Sunday\, March 1 at 1:00pm\, 2026. \nThe botanist\, ecologist and birder will join host Janice Donovan\, manager of the historic Shirley G Cross Wildflower Garden\, for a presentation on native plants that can attract year-round and migrating birds. Fran will also explain how helping local birdlife can reduce your own garden chores\, including having to water less\, and maintain local ecosystems. \nFran Raleigh grew up watching birds and nature in her Northern VA neighborhood. She began getting to know wild plants while earning her BS in Biology at Marietta College in OH\, and continued botanizing during grad school at SUNY-ESF in Syracuse\, where she earned MS and PhD degrees in Plant Science. A long-time visitor to Cape Cod\, she moved here permanently on her retirement. \nGardening for Life is an annual series at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History that brings experts across a range of fields to speak to hobbyists and professionals. Upcoming topics include spring preparation and the secret world of fireflies. It honors the historic Shirley G. Cross Wildflower Garden at the Green Briar Nature Center. \nPLUS\, at every event we’ll be hosting a bake sale filled with delicious treats\, with proceeds going to support the incredible work of Brewster Pollinators.
