SUMMARY:Manomet Conservations Sciences Photography Exhibit Reception: The Art & Science of Recovering Shorebird Populations
DESCRIPTION:The Art & Science of Recovering Shorebird Populations: The Photographs of Manomet Conservation Sciences will be on exhibit at the Osterville Village Library (43 Wianno Ave\, Osterville\, MA) from June 1 through the end of August. This exhibit features 30 stunning images captured across the Western Hemisphere during our work to recover imperiled shorebird populations. Each beautiful photograph tells a story—of migration\, resilience\, and the dedicated people working to protect these extraordinary birds. \nJoin us for a special reception on Wednesday\, July 8th\, from 6:00–7:30 PM at the Osterville Village Library. Meet the photographers\, hear the stories behind their work\, and enjoy an exclusive viewing of the exhibit. \nThis collection is dedicated in honor of our colleague\, friend\, devoted conservationist\, and contributing photographer\, Shiloh Schulte\, who lost his life in June of this year while conducting research on Alaska’s North Slope. Shiloh’s impact on shorebird science and conservation over the past two decades has been profound. His passion for these birds and the landscapes they depend upon shines through in the extraordinary photographs he contributed to this exhibit. \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:“The Revolution on Cape Cod: The Issues\, the Events\, and the People” presented by David Martin
DESCRIPTION:Join author David Martin as he highlights his book “The Revolution on Cape Cod: The Issues\, the Events\, and the People”. He will be discussing facts and narratives about the often little-known histories of the Revolution on Cape Cod\, Martha’s Vineyard\, and Nantucket\, from the period of 1761 (end of the French and Indian Wars) to 1783 (the Treaty of Paris). This book\, prepared by a total of 30 authors\, has been coordinated through the Cape and Islands Historians Committee. Included are not only historical events\, but also a series of 10 individual biographies of individuals on Cape and Islands who played particularly important roles in the Revolution from the region. \nTopics of this discussion will include accounts of the few actual battles fought on Cape and Islands\, privateering\, the serious splits between Loyalists and Patriots\, British shipwrecks off Cape Cod which resulted in favorable outcomes for the Patriots\, the history of African Americans and Native Americans from the region who served actively in the war\, and much more! \nThis exciting historical talk will be held on Saturday February 7th at 1pm in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library. \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757
