SUMMARY:Pebble Art Craft Workshop with The Orange Jellyfish
DESCRIPTION:Create your very own pebble art & sea glass design using beach materials such as sea glass\, stones\, pottery\, coral\, shells & driftwood! \nHave you ever wanted to learn how to create a picture using materials found directly off the beach?\nCome join local guest artist Kerry Consentino- Vilorio owner of The Orange Jellyfish\, who creates beautiful custom pebble art and sea glass designs. \nDuring this two-hour class\, we will each create our own custom pebble art picture using various styles of beach sea glass\, pottery\, stones\, driftwood and shells directly hand picked off local New England beaches. Each design will be glued on to cardstock and enclosed within an 8×8 glass frame. This class will allow for a great deal of autonomy\, allowing for one to work within a relaxed environment while working at their own pace. Feel free to bring any special beach\, shells\, stones or sea glass from home that you may want to incorporate within your picture. While the frame color for all will be gray\, the cardstock colors available for selection will be white\, light crème\, or light blue. SUMMARY:Youth Boat Building Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Youth Boat Building Workshop\nSaturdays\, February 7 – Saturday\, April 25\, 2026 \nJoin us for a hands-on workshop where middle school students work together to construct a 12-foot traditional rowing skiff from a standardized boat-building kit. \n\n\nOpen to participants in grades 6–8 \n\n\n\n\nSaturdays | 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM \n\n\nRuns for 10–12 weeks \n\n\nLed by experienced and highly talented museum volunteers \n\n\nOver those 12 weeks\, the students have the helm – building their boat under the guidance of our expert volunteers. They assemble the whole boat\, design its colors\, and pick its name\, all before taking it out on the water for its first voyage\, and rowing away with a wonderful sense of accomplishment. \nSince the Youth Boat Building program was launched in 2012\, over thirty Bevin’s skiffs have been built. There is joy and wonder in hanging out in a Boat Shop within a Maritime Museum\, where Cape Cod’s proud maritime heritage meets the curiosity and eagerness of young learners\, gaining new skills. \nEmail or call us for more information \ntirwin@capecodmaritimemuseum.org \n508-815-4438

SUMMARY:Night Skies Planetarium in the Atrium Event!
DESCRIPTION:On December 20th\, 2025\, the Osterville Village Library turns the Anne Williams McGraw into a massive Night Skies PLANETARIUM with Michael Francis! Learn all about stars and planets! \nTo many the Universe is a closed book of secrets never to be read. Almost four hundred years ago\, an unknown court mathematician in Italy opened that book and laid the foundation for modern science. Galileo Galilei turned his telescope to the heavens to discover mountains and craters on the moon\, four moons of Jupiter\, and countless stars never before seen. Even more significant was his method of observation and mathematical analysis. He taught future scientists the way to discover the laws of nature. The Starry Messenger is a dramatic fun filled adaptation of Galileo’s short treatise “Siderius Nuncius”.Galileo (dressed in 17th century Costume) arrives to present a public lecture on his most recent discoveries made using his newly devised spyglass. As he describes those discoveries\, Galileo’s new method of observation and measurement of nature become apparent. Throughout the presentation audience members are actively involved in experiments and demonstrations. After the lecture\, Galileo answers questions about his experiments\, his life and his times. \nPrograms will run hourly from 10:00am-3:00pm\, 25 people per program.
