SUMMARY:Annual West Barnstable Village Tree Lighting
DESCRIPTION:Annual Tree Lighting\nSunday\, December 7th\, 2025 \nTraditionally\, the Annual West Barnstable Village Tree Lighting is held at 5:00 PM on the first Sunday in December at the West Barnstable Village Green. Friends and neighbors congregate at the tree to sing carols accompanied by trumpeter Jeremy Cadrin\, and the arrival of Santa Claus on the West Barnstable fire engine. Immediately following the Tree Lighting\, we walk up the path to the historic 1717 Meetinghouse of West Barnstable for The Christmas Story and Carol Sing featuring a living nativity scene\, the West Parish Hand Bell Choir\, and Donna Murphy on the Mander Organ. This is followed by an informal gathering in Jenkins Hall with lots of good food and friendly people. \nThis holiday presentation is a collaboration of the West Barnstable Civic Association\, the 1717 Meetinghouse Foundation and West Parish of Barnstable\, United Church of Christ.

SUMMARY:Cape Cod Concert Band presents Magical
DESCRIPTION:Magical\nSaturday\, December 13\, 2025\, 2:00 PM\nIf the Cape Cod Concert Band could claim only one holiday tradition\, it would be this: presenting non-traditional programs\, packed with selections that don’t sound like the music you hear at the mall. Celebrating sorcerers and Santa\, mystics and the Magi\, Hobbits and the holidays\, Magical: Music to Make You Believe is a send-up of the fantastical and miraculous. Opening with the fast and furious Sparkling Lights by Matt Conaway\, and closing with the New Orleans-inspired Holiday Jambalaya arranged by James Hosay\, this program has plenty of musical magic. And did we mention Hobbits? Yes\, we did. The Band will present The Lord of the Rings by Dutch conductor and composer Johan deMeij as an epic feature.

SUMMARY:Night Skies Planetarium in the Atrium Event!
DESCRIPTION:On December 20th\, 2025\, the Osterville Village Library turns the Anne Williams McGraw into a massive Night Skies PLANETARIUM with Michael Francis! Learn all about stars and planets! \nTo many the Universe is a closed book of secrets never to be read. Almost four hundred years ago\, an unknown court mathematician in Italy opened that book and laid the foundation for modern science. Galileo Galilei turned his telescope to the heavens to discover mountains and craters on the moon\, four moons of Jupiter\, and countless stars never before seen. Even more significant was his method of observation and mathematical analysis. He taught future scientists the way to discover the laws of nature. The Starry Messenger is a dramatic fun filled adaptation of Galileo’s short treatise “Siderius Nuncius”.Galileo (dressed in 17th century Costume) arrives to present a public lecture on his most recent discoveries made using his newly devised spyglass. As he describes those discoveries\, Galileo’s new method of observation and measurement of nature become apparent. Throughout the presentation audience members are actively involved in experiments and demonstrations. After the lecture\, Galileo answers questions about his experiments\, his life and his times. \nPrograms will run hourly from 10:00am-3:00pm\, 25 people per program. For more information please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757

SUMMARY:National Parks of the Southwest with Adventurer Steve Farrar
DESCRIPTION:In this edition of our “See America” series\, our adventure guide Steve Farrar will focus on the tremendous diversity within relatively short distances which highlights the group of Southwestern National Parks. Although all five of the parks we will visit are in desert ecosystems\, the environments range from the 13\,000’ elevation in Great Basin to the flats of Badwater Basin at 282 feet below sea level in Death Valley. Plants abound – Joshua trees\, ancient bristlecone pines\, and the veritable symbol of the West\, the majestic Saguaro cactus. Saving the best for last\, we will end up seeing the Grand Canyon top-to-bottom! Join us as Steve takes us on a visual tour that includes some of the most iconic images found throughout the entire National Park system. \nThis program will take place on Saturday December 20th\, 2025\,  at 11:00am in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757
