SUMMARY:SPELLING BEE on stage at The Cape Playhouse
DESCRIPTION:September 2-19\, 2026\nMonday – Saturday  7:30pm \nWednesday – Thursday 2:00pm \nSaturday\, September 5th & 19th\,   2:00pm  & 7:30pm \n  \nSix awkward spelling champions learn that winning (and losing) isn’t everything. \nIt’s time to get back to school\, and there’s no better way to extend the joy of summer than with the hilarious  25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The Tony Award winning sensation promises to have you roaring with laughter and smiling for days. \nAn eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The tweens – played by brilliant Broadway comedians –  spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words\, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing\, pout-inducing\, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Prepare yourself\, because the show\, both tuneful and farcical\, will take you back to school but also remind you of what it means to dream\, to yearn\, and to risk making a fool of yourself. \n  \nTickets available at: https://capeplayhouse.com

SUMMARY:4th Friday Poets
DESCRIPTION:4th Friday Poets\n\n\n \n \nBass River – Saben Board Room\n\n\n \n \nOngoing (mostly) 4th Fridays\, 2:00pm – 3:30pm.\n\n\n\n\nPoets of all ages and experience are welcome to this monthly group workshop. Poets will each bring a new or revised older poem and read aloud. The group will offer reaction and commentary\, with the option to pass. Guidelines for the group are simple: as writers we seek confidentiality and accuracy in lieu of harsh critique or false kindness in a safe environment that values thoughtful engagement.\nFacilitated by poet Bill Holcombe. Come on in — the water’s fine!\n\nThis workshop is free to members of the Cultural Center\, and $10 per session for non-members. If you are not already a member\, click here to join!\nRegistration is required — space is limited! If you don’t register\, a seat is not guaranteed.

SUMMARY:AUTHOR TALK: Anthony Sammarco "Inferno: Exploring the Great Boston Fire "
DESCRIPTION:Saturday November 7\, 2026\n1:00pm\,  Main Meeting Room\,   Osterville Village Library. \nJoin the Osterville Village Library in welcoming local author Anthony Sammarco as he gives a thrilling talk on Boston history! \nIn this program he discusses ‘The Great Boston Fire’\, a devastating fire that destroyed sixty-five acres of land in Boston\, from Washington Street\, between Summer Street and Milk Street\, fanning eastward towards the wharves projecting into Boston Harbor. The fire was said to have destroyed 776 buildings in Boston’s downtown\, causing over $73 million in damage (or $1\,682\,000\,000 in 2022 dollars)\, killing an estimated twenty people\, and leading to stricter building regulations in Boston. Fires have always been a constant source of anxiety\, but this inferno was cataclysmic and beyond the comprehension of many people. The city of Boston took action and appointed a city architect that would oversee all building in the city. \nAnthony Sammarco’s talks are always wildly popular and this one promises to be just that! For more information or to register for this program\, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org\nor by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757.
