SUMMARY:Drumming Through Trauma with Sam Holmstock
DESCRIPTION:Ongoing \nThursdays 11:30am-12:30pm \n$15 \nDrumming Through Trauma with Sam Holmstock (formerly of ENTRAIN) explores drumming\, rhythm\, and percussion in a fun environment accessible to all\, including anyone with PTSD\, Brain Injury\, the elderly\, and those living with mental illness or neurological conditions. It is very effective to reduce stress\, improve mind-body connection\, and increase mindfulness. You do NOT have to be suffering with trauma to join this class. \nAlthough some drum technique is taught\, the focus is on the development of communication and relaxation. We start with simple easy-to-play rhythms\, one rhythm at a time until we reach the point where we can have half the group play one rhythm with another rhythm played on top of the first one to create a web of interlocking rhythms. \nIt’s an opportunity to get to know some easy basic rhythms and just enjoy the time. Participants of all ages describe feeling “calm and centered” after drumming. \nWHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? Basically it’s a circle of people\, socially distanced\, all with drums\, outside if the weather is fine\, inside the Art Studio otherwise. \nSpaces are limited and participants must register. Please bring your own drum and masks are required. \nRegister at: https://cotuit.org/classes/drumming-through-trauma \n

SUMMARY:Call For Art: Visual Voice /Freedom to Create
DESCRIPTION:Call for Art: VISUAL VOICE – The Freedom to Create\nRegister and submit by 12/17 at midnight:\nwww.ccmoa.org/submit \nArtists everywhere are invited to make their mark in the Cape Cod Museum of Art’s 2026 International Juried Exhibition\, VISUAL VOICE: The Freedom to Create. This International Exhibition will be prominently featured at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in our expansive Hope / McClennen Gallery. \nThis exhibition celebrates the limitless power of artistic expression — the courage to speak through images\, to challenge norms\, to share what words cannot. Whether your work is bold and outspoken or quiet and contemplative\, we invite you to exercise your freedom to create. \nInterpret the theme broadly — as the expression of your thoughts\, emotions\, and beliefs\, or as the liberation that comes from creating without boundaries\, without adhering to perceived rules of art-making. Experiment\, take risks\, and let your visual voice be heard. \nAll interpretations on the theme of VISUAL VOICE: The Freedom to Create will be reviewed by architect\, exhibition designer\, and curator\, David Henry Perry. Three (3) monetary prizes will be awarded by the juror: $500\, $200\, $100 \nHow will you respond to this Call for Art?
