DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. DESCRIPTION:Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass\nExhibit\, Wednesday\, March 18 through June 7\, 2026 \n\n\nCahoon Museum of Art \nMuseum Hours\, Wednesday through Sunday\, 10:00am to 4:00pm \n\n\n\n\n\nCahoon Museum of American Art presents Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass\, an exhibition that “illuminates the path from inspiration to expression” that led from Tiffany Studios’ nature study photography to the nature-inspired windows\, lampshades and other glassware that made the studio famous. According to curatorial materials\, Louis C. Tiffany “staffed his studios with designers\, artists\, and artisans who shared his passion for the rich colors and sinuous forms found in nature.” This gave the studio the ability to “translate natural forms faithfully into glass: velvety or paper-thin petals\, waxy or veined leaves\, dappled sunlight or shadow\, and much more.” This exhibition was put together by The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass\, in Queens\, New York.

SUMMARY:Gail Gelburd: Creativity as a Voice for Social Justice -ARTIST TALK
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gail Gelburd will discuss her new book and her visual art exploring how art powerfully gives voice to issues of environmental destruction\, oppression\, war\, and compassion. \nArtist and author Dr. Gail Gelburd will discuss her new book as well as her own visual art that is on view in the exhibition Visual Voice\, and in a pop-up event. Through all of her creative explorations\, she addresses issues of environmental decimation\, oppression\, war\, and the need for compassion. She will discuss how the arts can give a voice to current issues in a profound way. \nGail Gelburd\, who resides in Western Mass\, has a PhD in Art History and Eastern Philosophy. She has been a museum director\, professor\, and curated exhibitions at museums such as the Whitney Museum\, Brooklyn Museum\, and Los Angeles County Museum\, as well as in India\, Wales\, Russia\, Korea\, and South Africa. She uses her art and writings to explore issues that impact all our lives. She has received grants from Mass Cultural Council\, NEA\, NEH\, Rockefeller Foundation\, Ford Foundation\, and others. She has recently been elected to the Council for the Arts at MIT. \nHer new book\, The Liberation of Sue Moody\, is based on the writings she discovered in an abandoned house belonging to a food journalist who was stationed in Paris just as Hitler marched in beneath her window. Moody kept copious notes about her struggles\, about war\, bombings\, and starvation as she tried to escape. Issues unfortunately relevant today. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Gelburd has written more than a dozen books about major artists dealing with environmental issues\, racial inequality\, war\, and oppression. \nThis event is presented in conjunction with:\nVISUAL VOICE: Freedom to Create.\nOn view January 29 – April 26\, 2026

DESCRIPTION:Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents\nFlora by artist Katherine Nora\, February 14 – April 30\, 2026\, during Museum open hours. \nArtist’s statement: \nFor the last twenty years most of my painting has been a response to what is growing in the land around me. Whether from direct contact with my garden or the woods surrounding it\, a glimpse of roadside scene or even the memory of a dream\, the urge is the same: to capture that plant-action. I see personalities\, communication\, or simply grace\, dignity and wisdom. To satisfy my curiosity and capture these qualities\, I wait for the painting to tell me what it wants and allow my participation in the gestures of the natural world. \nKatherine Nora has lived on Cape Cod for most of her life and shown her work here for decades. She is known for depicting the natural world with bold colors and strong brush strokes. And if you are in Orleans having a coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow\, look towards the CVS building and you will see the incredible “Depot Mural” that depicts the “Yesterday-Year Railroad Station” by artists Katherine Nora and Dan Joy. According to curatorial materials\, Louis C. Tiffany “staffed his studios with designers\, artists\, and artisans who shared his passion for the rich colors and sinuous forms found in nature.” This gave the studio the ability to “translate natural forms faithfully into glass: velvety or paper-thin petals\, waxy or veined leaves\, dappled sunlight or shadow\, and much more.” This exhibition was put together by The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass\, in Queens\, New York.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique one-hour talk exploring the Russian icon paintings of Cape Cod–based artist Alla Zbinovsky \nDrawing on her classical training in Moscow during the 1990s and her deep connection to Byzantine and Russian sacred art\, Zbinovsky offers a rare inside look at an ancient artistic tradition kept vibrantly alive in contemporary practice. \nThrough images\, personal stories\, and insights into traditional techniques\, she will share how icons are created using egg tempera\, gold leaf\, and layered color—and how the slow\, meditative process of iconography shapes her work today. \nThis talk traces Zbinovsky’s artistic journey from her early studies with icon “Masters” in Russia to her present-day studio at The 204 in Harwich\, where she continues to paint\, teach\, and explore the intersection of spirituality and art.

DESCRIPTION:Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass\nExhibit\, Wednesday\, March 18 through June 7\, 2026 \n\n\nCahoon Museum of Art \nMuseum Hours\, Wednesday through Sunday\, 10:00am to 4:00pm \n\n\n\n\n\nCahoon Museum of American Art presents Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass\, an exhibition that “illuminates the path from inspiration to expression” that led from Tiffany Studios’ nature study photography to the nature-inspired windows\, lampshades and other glassware that made the studio famous. According to curatorial materials\, Louis C. Tiffany “staffed his studios with designers\, artists\, and artisans who shared his passion for the rich colors and sinuous forms found in nature.” This gave the studio the ability to “translate natural forms faithfully into glass: velvety or paper-thin petals\, waxy or veined leaves\, dappled sunlight or shadow\, and much more.” This exhibition was put together by The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass\, in Queens\, New York.

Artists such as Joerg Dressler\, Beth Faherty\, Fran O’Neill\, and Paul Rizzo\, among many other skilled creatives\, will showcase their work at Cotuit Center for the Arts from May 23 to June 21\, 2026\, with an opening reception on May 30\, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. \nThe Outside Straight Lines biennial exhibit arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown\, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time of book banning of LGBTQ+ literature\, erasures of crosswalks\, and blatant attacks on trans rights\, this showcase has acted as an affirmation of collective LGBTQ+ expression. With support from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council\, GSAs across Cape high schools have been invited to view this powerful exhibit. \nAccording to curator David Cravenho\, “I am impressed by our LGBTQ+ Community for its strength and resilience. Growing up queer as a child and navigating life through the lens of a straight world is quite the feat.” This exhibit not only hosts 13 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape.
