The Austin Piazzolla Quintet specializes in the music of the late Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla as well as original nuevo tango compositions. They released their first album, Libertango (2010), to rave reviews and sold-out performances in Texas, including a spot on the main stage at the Houston International Festival. Their follow-up album, Lo Que Vendra (2013), allowed them the opportunity to begin touring and performing in some of the finest listening rooms, jazz clubs, and performance halls in the nation. Since then, the quartet has released two more albums: their self-titled album in 2015 and Angels and Devils 2017. The quintet consists of its founder James Anderson on violin, Tony Rogers on cello, Phil Spencer on bass, Ben Thomas on bandoneon, and Jonathan Geer on piano.
