The Museum School at the Cape Cod Museum of Art presents:
Searching for Form: A Non-objective Workshop by Carol Odell
Wednesday, January 24, through Friday, January 26, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Member $170 / Non-Member $190

“Where do you get your ideas?” is an all too common question asked of abstract and non-objective artists. In this workshop, we will generate, stimulate and discover new directions for your painting. We will search for inspiration, build interest, unify and strengthen compositions, understand design elements, and find and celebrate your “hand”. The power of the work is in the process.

Limited to three mornings, participants will be asked to work quickly on a variety of ideas using appropriate media such as pencil, conte, pastels, inks, and watercolor. Bring plenty of paper and a variety of brushes. Working from observation or your imagination, painting is an adventure: who knows where it will lead?

This workshop is offered in conjunction with FAMILIAL, on exhibit January 18 – April 14, 2024, Highlighting the relationships of our regional artists through artworks curated from the CCMoA Permanent Collection with research provided by the CCMoA Docents.

Carol Odell has been a non-objective painter for many years. Relying on the classical training of the Boston Museum School in the late ’60’s has allowed her to search for her own imaging. She has taught workshops at the Creative Arts Center, Truro Center for the Arts, Provincetown Art Association, Cape Cod Museum of Art, and privately in her studio. She and her husband, metal artist Tom Odell own and operate Odell Studios Gallery in Chatham. Her works are in private, corporate, and museum collections. www.odellarts.com
