“Postcards from a Pandemic:Living on Cape Cod During COVID-19″is a story told by many voices about the shared experiences of the pandemic against the backdrop of the beauty and splendor of Cape Cod.

With over 300 submissions from every town across the Cape, over 85 artists and authors are represented through poems, essays, photographs, and images. Approximately one-third of the literary contributions were from local students under the age of 18 years old. The images, poems, stories, essays and even a play, which comprise the anthology evoke memories of universal experiences and emotions – fear, loneliness and despair coexisting with hope and even the ability to find humor during this challenging time.

To encourage the community’s creative engagement, the Cape Pandemic Postcards Project began in the spring of 2020 under the leadership of Dorothy Skelley, a local writer and resident who also compiled and edited the book. Honoring Cape Cod’s long-standing tradition of historical preservation, the project is also a collaboration with the William Brewster Nickerson Cape Cod History Archives of the Wilkens Library at Cape Cod Community College, where a digital repository of the work will be available to the public at a future date.

A project three years in the making, the book launch includes on Saturday, October 14, 2023, includes author readings, original artwork, and light refreshments.
