PASSPORT TO AFRICA-Cape Symphony

January 25 @ 7:30 pm - January 26 @ 9:30 pm

PASSPORT TO AFRICA SAT January 25, 2020 7:30 PM SUN January 26, 2020 3:00 PM Jung-Ho Pak, Conductor Abel Selaocoe, Cello William Chapman Nyaho, Piano

The splendor of Africa has inspired musicians, artists, and writers throughout time. In this “Passport” concert, we’ll take a musical journey through the different flavors and emotions with an authentic tribute to the extraordinary rhythms and melodies of Africa. Experience the stupendous performance of South African cellist Abel Selaocoe, who powerfully combines his Western classical training with his African heritage. Ghanaian American pianist William Chapman Nyaho stars in “Africa” by Camille Saint-Saëns, written in Egypt and based on North African folk music. You’ll also hear a beautiful piece by South African composer Bongani Ndodana-Breen called “African Kaddish.” Join us for this celebration of Africa’s pageantry and majesty.
