New Year’s Eve Comedy comes to Cotuit Center for the Arts
December 31, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Cotuit Arts Center will produce its first-ever New Year’s Eve Night of Comedy with double-headliner shows on Tuesday, December 31, at 7 and 9 p.m.
Presented in partnership with Scamps Comedy, the show is hosted by local favorite Jim Ruberti and headlined by two of Boston’s top comedians: Joe Yannetty and Paul Nardizzi.
“We’re very excited to offer something so new and fun on New Year’s Eve,” Center for the Arts Executive Director David Kuehn said. “This will enhance the New Year’s Eve experience for anyone living on Cape Cod.”
The show is appropriate for adults (18-plus), and there will be a cash bar. Tickets are $35, $33 for seniors, and $30 for members. There is also an “early bird discount” with all tickets $25 if purchased before midnight on December 7, available at the Cotuit Center of the Arts box office (508-428-0669) or its website, artsonthecape.org.
“Standup comedy is something people love to come out and see on New Year’s Eve,” said comedian Ruberti, a Barnstable resident. “For a lot of people, it’s a chance to end the year with a laugh and enter the new year in a great mood. The Center for the Arts is a beautiful performance space, so we’re expecting a memorable night.”
Yannetty is a world traveler, accomplished comedian, and cancer survivor who people may recognize from cruise ships, top Boston clubs, or his commercial for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He draws on his travels, his Italian heritage, family situations and Boston blue-collar upbringing in his comedy. A guest on dozens of television shows, he’s also written movie scripts (including Suckers from HBO), and appeared at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He was once the warmup act for Rosie O’Donnell’s TV show and beat Drew Carey on Star Search.
Nardizzi is one of the country’s top comedians, with multiple standup appearances on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central, and Fox Sports’ Best Damn Sports Show Period, as well as regional appearances on NESN. A former winner of the 2001 Boston Comedy Festival, Nardizzi is in demand for theater shows, corporate functions, colleges, golf tournament, and fundraisers. His CD has been played on Sirius Satellite Radio and he’s a prolific author of humor books, including the hilarious Things That Might Annoy … series, which pokes fun at Yankee fans, Jets fans, Republicans, and Democrats.
Ruberti is a comedian and actor who has been entertaining people for well over 30 years, starting as a child in the theaters of Cape Cod performing with Broadway actors such as John Raitt or Theodore Bikel, and progressing into roles as an adult at venues like the Barnstable Comedy Club. He is recognizable to Cape Cod audiences as a funny fundraising auctioneer and event host for more than a dozen years, and a stand-up comedian working stages around New England, working with top Boston headliners such as Steve Sweeney, Tony V., Paul Nardizzi, Mike McDonald, Dave Rattigan and Steve Bjork.
