Mindfulness Art Festival
Saturday, August 5, 2023
Guyer Barn, 250 South Street, Hyannis
The Mindfulness Arts Festival will feature mini-workshops in capoeira dance, yoga with live music, mindful stretching, journaling & sketching, and guided meditation, plus live performances of our mindful puppets and a short play. View the complete schedule and register at www.theawareness.org/festival.
Our live music yoga flow will be led by Jenya on harmonium and Tyler on guitar. Prof. Andre Lima will lead a movement workshop in Capoeira dance, an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines martial arts, dance, rhythm and movement. Pete will demonstrate how mindful journaling and sketching can provide a deeply reflective experience, and attendees will be guided in a pranayama breath meditation by Jenya and a peace meditation by Viriam.
Two live performances will explore mindful themes. In a collaboration with Happy Cabbage Puppet Theater, puppets Simon and Eve discover that a snake is in fact a very mindful creature. In the short play, Body Knows, actors from Halyard Services demonstrate how being mindful of our bodies helps us better handle life’s disturbances.
This free event is presented by The Awareness Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Sandwich, which demonstrates mindful practices through workshops and performances. Our sponsors include the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the Mass Cultural Council and the Cape Cod Foundation.
