Love Live Local’s September Love Local Fest Celebrates Locals’ Summer
The free, family-friendly event showcases the Cape’s favorite local artisans
Hyannis – With the passing of Labor Day, we can enjoy our favorite local attractions and businesses without the congestion that the high season brings. Luckily, the Love Local Fest gives us the opportunity to shop, eat, play, and listen local at Aselton Park on September 24th, from 11am-5pm. The 11th season of Love Local Fest continues to connect Cape Codders and support our local economy while cultivating an effervescent vibe that truly feels like “Locals’ Summer”.
September’s Fest is generously sponsored by Cape Cod 5, Avangrid, Devil’s Purse Brewing Company, and True North Events Rentals and will feature over 80 local artists, artisans, and brands who pop-up for the day. At the most recent Love Local Fest in July, one vendor commented, “Shoppers appreciated local artisans and businesses were all from Cape Cod. Also loved the music, food trucks and activities for kids!”
Food trucks such as Mom and Pops Burgers, Seafood Sam’s: Fish On The Fly, Junior Betts BBQ and more will be serving up finger-licking favorites, while Devil’s Purse Brewing Company and Truro Vineyards keep your thirst quenched with seasonal varietals and frosty brews. Enjoy their libations while you paint the community mural and sway to the live local tunes provided by Catie Flynn Band (11:30am) and Funktapuss (2:30pm).
Signs with tips and facts about the “shop local” movement are peppered throughout Aselton Park. Love Live Local CEO, Amanda Converse stated, “Small, local businesses are the backbone of our community, and we hope to shine a bright light on that at our events. When people show up for the Love Local Fest, we see it as them showing up for our local shops, makers, restaurants and organizations.” Kelly O’Brien, the nonprofit’s Program Director added, “When shopping locally is made so fun and so easy, it leaves a lasting impression that you take with you. We hope that feeling continues to make a positive impact on the Cape’s economy throughout the year”.
In addition to shopping to support small businesses, the Fest is an all-ages, family-friendly event with a kids’ zone run by the Cape Cod Maritime Museum. Their Young Mariners will have a touch tank with some adorable and friendly sea critters, as well as a build-your-own (mini) boat experiment. Osterville Mercantile can also be found on the Maritime Museum patio, making their Love Local Fest debut in the kids’ zone with free crafts and games for the youngsters.
Love Live Local is a Cape Cod organization dedicated to community advocacy and educating consumers on the importance of shopping local. Their mission is to foster an economically sustainable, creative, and exciting future for the Cape and help all those who love this place participate in keeping it special. They were founded in 2013 and became a registered nonprofit in 2020.
