Come let disciples of Improv Bostonβs acclaimed Musical Improv program, Rachel Hischak and Maxie Davidson, and accompanist Malcolm Granger immerse you in a world of epic possibilities for your acting, story-telling and song-styling interests.
Actors, singers, comedy writers, and musicians will discover how their skills can be honed to create entertaining songs, musical scenes, and short-form improvised cabaret. Experienced actors will benefit from inspiration derived from live musical accompaniment to create bolder, more recognizable characters that develop as the music dig deeper, expanding emotional, physical, comedic, and melodic possibilities.
We will take time to include exercises that gently eases nerves and stage fright associated with solo and on the spot singing. This is a great class for casual singers to discover voices and musical ears they didnβt even realize they had! The ability to carry a tune is in no way a requirement to joining this class. If you can talk you can sing!
Most importantly, we’ll be collaborating as The Centerlings from the very first class with trust and support to work towards the goal of presenting our work in a final 30-40 minute showcase designed by you, the troupe, for friends and family. The show-case is optional for all students but we will encourage everyone to participate and experience this collaborative achievement. The show-case will take place on Wednesday, February 19 at 6pm.
