Hyannis Film Festival presents Movies on Main, November 3 – 5

The annual Hyannis Film Festival event MOVIES on MAIN returns to downtown Hyannis for Friday,
November 3 through Sunday, November 5, with films that spotlight entertaining and memorable stories
about colorful and courageous individuals, their families, and friends. Most of the movies celebrate being
out and proud about neurodiversity, whether it’s being bipolar, coping with dementia, or having limited
abilities from the circumstances of birth.

Eight groups of films across three days look at ways people survive— even triumph— or suffer
unimaginably under oppressive circumstance. Lively, funny, horrific, or heartwarming, these are true stories
about neurodivergent and other pioneers who face their own truths to achieve their goals.

We love the fun and heartwarming joy audiences will see in Champions, Jasmine Is a Star, She Sings to
Birds, and OK! (The ASD Band movie), along with the memorable quirkiness in Being Robin and Unidentified
Objects. We’re especially pleased that actor James Day Keith from Champions, actor-comedian Roger
Kabler, author Charles Graeber (The Good Nurse; The Breakthrough), and award-winning actress Judith
Ivey will be joining us in Q&A sessions.

This year’s Movies on Main weekend is presented in partnership with ReelAbilities and Cape Cod Film
Collaborative. All screenings and events are at 529 Main in downtown Hyannis, the event space that’s part
of Sturgis Charter Public School, across from Colombo’s. Programming advice and support has come from
Cape Cod groups including Best Buddies, Cape Abilities, Community Connections, and Riverview School.
A donor weekend pass of $100 can be found now on Eventbrite. Passholders and other sponsors are invited
to a reception Friday night before the showing of Champions. Sunday’s showing of the documentary
Capturing the Killer Nurse is free, with The Good Nurse author Charles Graeber for an after-screening Q&A.
Individual screening sessions, each lasting up to two hours and many with after-movie discussions, go on

This documentary reveals how investigators proved ICU nurse Charles Cullen was killing patients — and how close he

Champions, directed by Bobby Farrelly, narrative feature, 124 mins
Woody Harrelson stars in this hilarious and heartwarming story of a former minor-league basketball coach who, after
a series of missteps, is ordered by the court to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. He soon
realizes that despite his doubts, together, this team can go further than they ever imagined. •

A Critter Fable, directed by Grace Fisher, narrative short, 8 mins
A caterpillar who can’t become a butterfly discovers he can still add color to the world in his own special ways.
