Good Vibrations – Explore Vibratory Color
The effects of color: their shape, value, temperature, size, and intensity — all work to create a visual impact. This six week course will explore vibratory color, how one color placed against another produces a vibration. Cape Cod School of Art founder, Charles Hawthorne stressed the concept of placing one spot of color against another spot of color in his outdoor classes. We will paint en plein air, weather permitting (if rain we will paint inside observing strict social distancing) and explore the various color contrasts: warm against cool, dark against light, neutral against bright. Subject matter will include the figure, landscape, and still life. Studies will be produced to work toward larger finished pieces as students develop their own color sense.
