Join Cape Cod Maritime Museum and Captain Elliot Rappaport of the Maine Maritime Academy to learn about how Earth’s wind systems have for millennia been an engine of human expansion across the globe. Learn about the driving forces behind these winds, and the pathways between continents they have provided to seafarers over time– Pacific islanders, Arabian merchants, Norse voyagers, and finally the navigators of western Europe.
Captain Elliot Rappaport, Assistant Professor of Marine Transportation, has had a long career at sea focused on the operation of sail training and oceanographic research vessels. He holds a 1600-ton master’s license, and has particular interests related to meteorology,
casualty analysis, and small craft construction.
