Rain date: Sunday, December 3, 2023The first weekend of December will kick off the holiday season in downtown Hyannis, with four special events showing off the “Hyannis Holiday” spirit.

HYANNIS, MA – In a true community collaboration, Arts Barnstable, Greater Hyannis Civic Association, Cape Cod Maritime Museum, the Hyannis Main Street BID and Love Live Local are joining forces to bring the magic of the holidays to Main Street for a winter wonderland weekend. During that time, Hyannis downtown will be bustling with holiday cheer, special events and shoppers galore

The festive weekend kicks off on Friday, December 1st, with First Fridays from 5-8 pm on Hyannis Main Street, celebrating all things that make our downtown special. Come out and enjoy holiday movies, music, games, and trolley rides, all while taking in the beautiful holiday lights of Hyannis Main Street. Shops will be open late for everyone to get a start on their holiday shopping, and adults can purchase a Sip & Shop ticket to enjoy a merry drink or two at participating shops. At 7pm, make your way to the top of the Hyannis Village Green for the lighting of a new nautical themed light display and a holiday sing-along. Saturday, December 2nd begins with the Love Local Fest: Holiday Edition, from 10 am to 4 pm. The 10th annual Love Local Fest Holiday Edition is a grand display of local artistry and craftsmanship you can only find on the Cape. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Hyannis Village Green, 120 local makers, brands and eateries create an illuminating mix of holiday nostalgia, winter warmth, and festive family fun. The Main Street Stroll is a day of fun and games for kids from one to ninety-two. From 11am-3pm features music, festive treats, along with the fan favorite petting zoo and pony rides. Santa arrives by antique fire truck at noon where attendees will have the chance to visit with the big guy from 12-1 pm and 1:30-2:30 pm. People can also hop on the trolley, watch a holiday ice carver at work, try one of Shipyard Boulders inventive games, or vote for a favorite cookie in the street-wide Cookie Stroll.                                                        

The Boat Parade caps off the day, with boats of all sizes decked out for the holidays. Starting at 4pm, spectators can enjoy hot chocolate, chowder, and music while enjoying the parade in Hyannis Harbor. Santa will cruise around the harbor before he arrives on dry land to visit and hear kids’ holiday wishes

Free parking is available in the Barnstable Town Hall, South and North Street and Ocean Street public parking lots during the events. The rain date for the Love Local Fest, Main Street Stroll, and Boat Parade is Sunday, December 3rd. There is no rain date for First Fridays.
