From Sargent to Rockwell: Figurative Art in the 20th Century with Sue Altman
(6) Wednesdays, September 27 to November 1, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Member $65 / Non-Member $80
This 6-week course examines the developments in art in America following the artistic revolutions in Europe in the late 19th century. We will explore American Impressionism, the Ashcan School, Regionalism, Social Realism, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Bay Area Artists. The 1-hour lecture will end with a brief Q/A.
Some of the artists we will view and discuss are John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, Grant Wood, Jacob Lawrence as well as many lesser-known men and women.
Suzanne Altman is an art educator and art historian who has presented art and art history programs throughout Rockland, Bergen and Westchester counties, for both adult and teenage audiences.
