Cotuit Crest Trail Kick-Off
January 8 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
This year’s Wintertide Read and Ramble brings us back onto American soil with our 2020 Cotuit Crest Trail. Based on the Pacific Crest Trail, extending from Mexico up into Canada and passing through many fantastic national forests, participants will walk and/or read a certain amount of miles and/or books and attend programming based on the theme between January and March. In addition, each program a registered participant attends earns a raffle ticket for a prize to be drawn at the banquet. Mark your progress on our route map, and encourage your friends and family to participate from a distance with you through our website and online activities!
Join us to kick off the challenge by stopping by to register and pick up your packet, and partake in some light refreshments. We will also be having a live Skype Q&A set up with Carol Chirpich, a California resident who has walked two parts of the Pacific Crest Trail: from Campo to Tehachapi, 566 miles northbound, plus another 300 miles from the Washington/ Oregon border southbound. We’re looking forward to hearing her experiences and getting this reading and walking challenge started, and we hope you’ll be here too!
Registration is $20 for adults (18+) and $10 for children (each additional child in a family is only $5). Registration packets with logs, maps, thematic reading suggestions and more are available at the Library. Patrons who do not wish to participate themselves are invited to donate funds to sponsor another walker/reader. For more information, call the Library at 508-428-8141 or visit our event web site at cotuitlibrary.org/events–activities.
