SOL Y CANTO Quartet with special guest percussionist SAM HOLMSTOCK
Enjoy a night of great Latin music under the stars with Latinx Music Ambassadors Sol y Canto’s fusion of Latin folk and jazz-inflected songs and rhythms.
Sol y Canto is the award-winning Pan-Latin ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and percussionist Rosi Amador (cajón, bongos and small percussion) and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador. Featuring Rosi’s crystalline voice and Brian’s lush Spanish guitar and inventive compositions, Sol y Canto’s original songs are socially conscious and hopeful, set in a framework of varied musical styles with surprising twists. Described by the Boston Globe as “sublime ambassadors of Latin music,” they translate Spanish lyrics poetically to make their music accessible to all. They can make you dance, laugh, cry and sigh all in one concert. With Brian’s commanding, intricate guitar playing, Rosi’s rhythmic drive on cajón and bongos, and liberal use of vocal improvisation and body percussion, the duo’s sound is lush. Sol y Canto celebrates its 29th anniversary in 2023.
The Sol y Canto Duo, Rosi and Brian Amador, rocked the house in the Cotuit Center theater last fall. For this show Rosi and Brian will be joined by two extraordinary musicians, Keala Kaumeheiwa on upright bass and Paul Lieberman on sax and flute for this Latin cultural celebration on Cape Cod. Come prepared to sing along and dance along with this powerful quartet.
