A free on-line demonstration of a fascinating process, presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. Watch Dave transform a rough Australian burl into an aesthetically pleasing and functional vessel. Witness how he reveals the beauty of the wood, the graceful and colorful intermixing of grain and texture, as he shapes it on a lathe. Join in the excitement and anticipation of this transformation from start to finish with the accompaniment of light classical music. An incredible way to spend some time alone together.
Dave served as a technical arts Instructor and School Administrator, and began focusing on wood turning as he entered retirement five years ago. His work includes bowls, lidded boxes, ornaments, and a variety of spindle based pieces. Dave has provided wood lathe instruction and demonstration for the Rise & Shine program for Monomoy High School students, the Barnstable Art on the Farm event, as well as, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s Revelry and Woodturning exhibit. Dave coordinates and provides one on one mentoring sessions for the Cape Cod Woodturners Club members and serves as a Board Member for the club.
