PAMELA DEYOUNG Perky Painter-Theorems & Folk Art
Growing up in Massachusetts Pam always had a healthy respect for our New England history, its people, their conflicts and what they have taught us….if we listen. As that interest grew it drew her to our early American art forms, an appreciation and ultimately mastering of an 1800’s art form……THEOREM PAINTING.
Theorem painting was taught to young ladies ages 12 to 14 in finishing schools. It uses a series of layered stencils to produce a perfect design painted on velveteen with oil paints. Thus these non-professional young ladies were able to create acceptable art forms of their own. Life has given her the opportunity to help keep this graceful and striking art form alive.
